I kinda dug it.

Haha! Only 20 minutes into my re-watching of Top Secret!, and I've been laughing nonstop. Such absurd silliness in every frame, yet for some reason it feels nuanced and subtle. It's satisfied in being silly for its own sake, without having to hit you over the head with "look how irreverent we are!"

SPOILERS

Damnit, Rowan, I was thinking the same thing. That's gotta be one of the most awkward shoe-horned lines I've ever heard, and I love the hell out of it.

Damnit, I'm going to have to revisit this one myself. The underwater fight scene is one of the most inspired bits of comedy goofiness I've ever seen. I feel like Airplane was a bit more self-aware parody, and Naked Gun was over-the-top corniness. It's been a looong time since I've seen it, but I think Top Secret

YES GODDAMNIT.

That game was awesome! One of my favorites on my Commodore 64 (the Nintendo version was crappy). Nothing as thrilling as hitting a killer triple spin surf trick that takes you off the screen.

Isn't that the one he ultimately chose? I like it, it's a nice painting.

I'm really glad you didn't hate Wrecked, because it means you're probably on board for the rest of the series.

Pocahotass was always my favorite. And oddly appropriate to the newswire bit.

Consider, some people don't remember an age when Dana Carvey did Jimmy Stewart impressions. Dust in the wind, man.

The Mighty Favog needs more love.

I prefer THE Whitney Brown.

I'm also on-board with this being a good episode. And no, you're not supposed to enjoy Willow and Amy, although I agree that scene is a bit TOO uncomfortable.

I'm just glad to live in a world where this kind of conversation can take place.

Willow's Scream
That turned Willow head always bugged me. Such a perfect shot of the Scoobies, and she was half a beat off. I've tried to accept it as part of the asymmetry of the art, but I can't buy it.

I'm thinking Mallrats.

Talking of risque, the end of The Parking Ticket isn't heard on the episode, I think…. "I'm not wearing underwear…"

The amulet that Xander used to call him
"Xander, you never call me your sweet little tefillin any more."

Oh, yeah, it's a great flick, no argument here. I just remember the marketing at the time, and it being THE feel-good event of the year, like way and above what you'd expect for a flick about some scrappy little punk.
