You and Excitable Misunderstood Genius are right about the theatrical edit being tighter and having a better tone, but the longer version is worth watching just for the scene where Tom Hanks rides off in a convertible with his boyfriend Howie Long while Tom Everett Scott tries to process what he's seeing.

No one should apologize for loving That Thing You Do. It rules, the songs are so good a lot of people thought they were actually written back in the 60s, and it has Rita Wilson in a low-cut cocktail dress.

John C. Reilly is an excellent actor, but it'll be hard to take him seriously in a non-parody biopic after having seen Walk Hard several times.

Yeah, I figured that out later when I learned more about music theory. I think what bugged me was the fact that I didn't know I was doing it. On Ringo Starr's VH1 Storytellers album he tells a funny anecdote about when he wrote Back Off Boogaloo, and how the melody in his head kept drifting and turning into the melody

I will go to bat for Predators. It's not a great movie, and they could have written Topher's character and plot line better, but it's a fun and pretty lean action film.

In related news, Eddie Murphy announced that he wouldn't mind doing another Pluto Nash movie.

I started playing guitar when I was 13, but I didn't get around to writing a complete song until my first semester of college. I was pretty proud of it; it was built around a bouncy-yet-melancholy arpeggio, and it had a really nice bridge section.
