Yeah, I always liked the Rob Reiner episode - lots of different kinds of comedy in it. For some reason it gets a bum rap, but it's one of my favorites of the first season.

Of the first five years, 77-78 is the best, but even that has Dan Aykroyd ill-suited as a Weekend Update anchor. Still, the string of six or seven shows at the end of that season is as strong a run as the show's ever been on. As for all-time best, pick any one season from 86-93 and I would accept your argument.
