The best episode of Comedy Bang Bang ever (I believe it was the first time Mantzoukas and Daly got together on the show) was when Daly played Bill Carter @ Trainer for the Stars Seeking Stars.org. That character was amazing, and they did that exact same thing then. He came back in the second half of the episode as the…
Bravo, sir or madam. You are truly the MVP of the internet.
3D should be put down like a rabid dog. I hate, hate, hate 3D. It adds nothing to the experience. It's irritating to look at. I feel like an grumpy old man when talking about 3D but I loathe it.
@avclub-58ee8db359231ebeb2e95827dfa4df48:disqus I'm glad that someone else came on to stand up for Pardo so that I didn't have to. I'd never claim that he invented the form or anything. There were other comedy podcasts when Never Not Funny started, although I don't know of any notable ones other than Gervais' show.…
I can definitely understand not liking Dwyer. The guy is a spaz. To some that's lovable, to others it's annoying. I find his ridiculous energy and volume very entertaining so I expect I'll enjoy this episode.
I'm honestly curious if the person who reviewed Never Not Funny likes Bil Dwyer in general. I don't know much about him outside of NNF but he's always been one of my favorite guests. Was this a rare miss for Dwyer or do you just find him generally irritating?
On the subject of the book, it looked to me that he was making the pages look weathered and old so they'd look like the others. I'd say Sava was right and he was either replacing pages or adding his own.
I just listened to that same episode of The Nerdist. I immediately tracked down the Radiohead cover they played at the end of the episode, and lo and behold, they have a new album out, too. And it's really good.
@Scrawler2:disqus In my opinion there's not much that's near as good as Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. It's pretty much perfect so it's just unfair to judge Grossman's books against it.
That said, I loved The Magicians and definitely plan to read The Magician King. And of course now I want to read Jonathan Strange…
French class!
I get what you're saying, but nothing stands with that Shield moment. Nothing.
YES! I had to rewind multiple time to rewatch this line, accompanied with Deschanel's spit take. It was obvious the spit take was coming, but it was perfectly done. Nick had the line of the night there.
I actually kind of enjoyed the adspeak. It made everything seem even more surreal.
Damn, apparently Stamos caught a head butt for not sharing his yogurt. I guess one isn't too bad.
I didn't count a single person being hit in the head or groin with anything. I can't remember the last time a Super Bowl aired without at least one head or groin shot. I'd call that a win.
As usual, @avclub-c1fe85b855c6d045b827f74a1e2c3fd7:disqus is exactly right here. As soon as you notice the mildewy smell it's time to wash a towel. It's the perfect indicator.
@avclub-2da02ef9dd0d2138f3f11948e1b692ac:disqus I absolutely agree. The final moments for Shane are heartbreaking, but nothing can compete with Lem's final scene. As soon as Shane and Lem end up alone under that bridge you just know that something bad is coming. You just don't know what or when. And then Shane…
Wasn't there a Dino De Laurentis gimmick poster at some point? That was funny stuff, assuming I'm remembering correctly.
I can understand that feeling. I think that's partly why I've whittled my list of comedy podcasts down.
