Very nicely put, and I agree with everything. I like to point to this film, too, to people who seem to have it in their heads that DDL hams it up too much. He burns in this film, slowly, internally, never raising his voice but saying everything with his eyes. It's a mesmerizing performance in a fantastic film.

That's true, but Innocence is drenched in the kinds of things Scorsese excels at. Amazing camera work, washes of unfettered passion, acting that is at once stylized and incredibly natural, betrayal—fuck, it's such a good film and one of Scorsese's best.

Indeed. His versatility is absolutely mind-bending.

Indeed. Had a chance to buy a Lego snowspeeder one day when it was just sitting there at a toy store. Eh, I figured. Got time. Few days later it was gone. Now they go for like a million dollars. What I'm saying is, my life is a hollow lie AND I MISSED MY CHANCE.

It's gonna be great, gonna be great, gonna be great, be great, be great, great, great.

But from my point of view the Jedi are evil! I'm so sorry.

It really is mind-boggling what he did and how he changed the game.

I think that quip may be Joel's finest moment. Perfectly encapsulates everything wrong with this film.

Man, I was saying that exact thing the other day! I used to love, love, love watching Primetime. It was a perfect hour of sports highlights. I never missed it, and Berman had the perfect energy for it. Jackson was good, as you say. It was a great ending to my Sunday nights before heading back to work/school. *sniff*

This is a very nice analysis, and I think you are right on. And I don't think anyone can ever be a "Gretzky" of anything unless they completely re-write the record books and surpass previous records by an absolute landslide.

Ha! I noticed that, too. Also the quick shot of Sigourney's crack.

I just came here to say this: *long pause* DOOOOOOO SOMETHING!!

Ah, the haunting Torgo theme.

After a thorough search of the first room…

I completely understand where you are coming from, and I almost hate my next sentence here (because it's overused in responses to criticism)—but, at least for me, I think that last scene is kind of funny on purpose. Reading behind the scenes stuff about DDL and PTL and how they would laugh and laugh at this character

It WAS pretty boring, wasn't it? I love all of his previous films, but I sort of just appreciated Vice. It's worth checking into again, I think, but I just haven't worked up to it yet.

Indeed! I hope she can keep with it and eventually get a different show. But kudos to the show for recognizing a good thing and running with it.

I really want to like this show…but, I don't. Liz Gillies is enough to make me watch it, though. I hate myself afterward.

I really, really, really love the 2004 version he did with the Wondermints. After hearing that, the Smile Sessions, as good as they are, were a bit of a letdown! I guess I just liked the flow and production better. Either way, great stuff.

I've heard that, too! And everything I've read about her points to her being kind of cool even if her music and image aren't my cup of tea. I hope she's not a victim of the machine and doesn't end up another young-star casualty.
