Thrawn Trilogy is outstanding, though I would guess they'd prefer to go in a more cinematic direction.  More likely the subsequent triliogy it would have some of Lucas' original story ideas in there somewhere.  Such as "three movies with so much CGI junk on the screen that you cry yourself to sleep"

It doesn't have to look like those old films.  A friend and I attempted to watch Cherry Bomb based on the alleged 80's Grindhouse Appeal.  And it was so terrible.    The digital video amplified the amateuristic acting and cruddy sets (I think 100% of interiors were shot in a courtyard marriot).  No amount of "graining…

To me it seemed like a lost Troma film - like Toxic Avenger meets Combat Shock.  And that experience is not exactly everyone's cup of tea.  I liked it more than I thought I would though.

I don't know if I'd call Machete terrible, just a bit overcooked.  Too much plot, too many "special guest stars", too many generic action sequences.
