I watch this regularly with my kids (8 & 11) and admire it greatly for its tight visual storytelling, and general entertaining-ness.  Still have a few issues though:

There is always an air of surreality on Louie, and this episode had tons of subtle surrealism.  From meeting Parker on the bus, to her fairly swift demise, etc, etc.  But I wasn't really torn from the story until I saw Louie wandering Beijing in early January and having it be somewhat balmy.  Beijing has a particular

I've been to Shanghai a bunch of times, Beijing no times.  And any time a local was outgoing/friendly to me, it was to pull the old "outrageously expensive tea ceremony" scam.  Every time.

I wish he would film two episodes a week.  One which captures the absolute comic hilarity of the first season, and one capturing the film-makerly brilliance of subsequent seasons.

I quit discs after having 3 blurays in a row lockup on me.  My guess is that the nature of BR is such that it's more sensitive to small scratches, marks.  Because it's data "bumps" are much smaller.

To be fair, they have a huge selection of excellent, recent foreign films.
