there's nothing rote about INSIDE OUT — i was lucky enough to see a media screening here in aus (2 weeks ago) and let me tell you it does not disappoint. and i hold pixar to extremely high standards.

it sounds like that, but with pixar, it's never dogshit. at worst, extremely pretty and artful mediocrity.

i was reading the comments to see if anyone brought that up. it's obnoxious, and it bit JJ in the ass (rightly), and i anticipate this to bite D&D in their asses too. if you want to surprise people, keep your fucking mouths shut. don't blatantly lie to them, or cunningly mislead with a trick of language ("dead is dead

maybe they were only pushing it because they thought audiences might get it confused with the hunger games movie, but whedon and tancharoen convinced them that wasn't a good enough reason to rob the show of 2/3 of it's charisma.

perhaps i was a little scattershot in my response… it's not that i think they are equivalent in terms of how good the job is (though there are plenty of good arguments for both, i agree movies edge out largely on top) but in terms of how happy we should be, and how rewarded we as audiences are, by palicki getting a

the SHIELD spinoff with mockingbird is dead, i believe. which is good — SHIELD desperately needs her charisma.

depends why you don't like them. if you laugh at post-1996 jerry seinfeld, you just have a dull sense of humour. if you laughed when dane cook said "wouldn't it be funny if, like, five guys raped you right now?", you're a piece of shit.

"stereotyping" people who laugh at, for example, sexist jokes is not even REMOTELY equivalent to prejudice, sexism racism, and systematic discrimination, and that's a dumb comparison.

also, keep in mind we really have no idea what his wife said OR what his daughter said, only seinfeld's brief, probably old-guy-paraphrased retelling. which he did in order to publicly denigrate his daughter and all young people for having the gall to try to engage with culture and have opinions.

thank you for taking time out to tell me, you paragon of gentle internet kindness.

well i guess i don't agree it looks dull - particularly in comparison to FF. even if it doesn't turn out to be one for the win column, at least it looks like fun.

it's not that difficult to understand. it's hard to really backlash against something that's genuinely fun. the MCU movies, even when they're stupid and unremarkable (THOR 2, etc), tend to be pretty good fun in a way that's faithful to characters that people love.

i think there's a problem saying "the critics missed the point", as if all critics were a homogeneous mass of armchair tumblr activists. (i also don't like slagging off all tumblr activists as a rule.)

right, and that's a legit problem. i'm also not suggesting he's responsible for the sins of the show — i'm just saying that his argument sort of misses the point of a lot of the valid and varied criticism out there. he's saying "sexual violence is a real part of our barbaric history and culture, and it would be

criticism has been wide and varied, and some of it is unduly hysterical, sure. but a lot of it is criticism of HOW, not WHAT, and that is not "missing the point", even if you don't personally agree with it.

well i don't really disagree with anything he said, but he's also missed the point just a bit.

are you this heartbroken about all tragic deaths in the world, or just the ones you hear about? if you're this strident about death in general, you must spend your life unable to laugh. if not, you're just a hypocrite.

worth the try, is all i can say. i'm so glad i extended it the chance — it's now right alongside the original seasons in enjoyment for me.

i thought the same, but on rewatch, the season gets funnier and funnier. i gave it a second go a few months after the first and was laughing as much as i would at any other season.

you SHOULD watch it again. i was lukewarm first time through, but on second viewing, my laughs, investment, appreciation for form and story all shot up 500%. i've now watched it through 3 times and each time loved and was impressed by it more. it really is hilarious, but some of the best stuff is buried pretty deep.
