Or a small harp, while drinking massive amounts of whisky and holding that day's newspaper.

I rather liked his "That's great news!" response to the High Times Song of the Year info.
I saw them a couple of years ago without any knowledge of their music and had a great time. Enjoy!
I've watched a couple episodes and the guys are really funny, but I just don't like the Jess character. I watched the one that was so hyped, where she and some guy kiss but her whole storyline drove me crazy. Jess can't stay home by herself! Jess heard a wierd sound in the hallway and has to call everyone! Should…
I seem to recall liking it pretty well. I actually saw it in the theater - I think I knew it was Leonard-associated and had been reading a lot of his stuff at the time.
@avclub-eac75edc18b8546c46893fe4b75ab995:disqus Can I start later in the series, then, re: Southland?
ooooh - why do you hate Aaron Eckhart? I really want to know!
But then explore that as a theme of the book, don't throw it in the last few pages as an afterthought.
Well, I don't like that choice AND I think it is overrated :) I thought there was potential in the story prior to that and I think she took it in the wrong direction or didn't fulfill the promise not just with that storyline, but the others as well. And in general it was not well-plotted IMHO. Obviously lots of…
What happened to Ava is she was raped. Maybe you meant what was going through Ava's mind?
I think if it were something the book explored I might have been ok with it as a theme, but to have it come up as one of the last thoughts of the book was slightly infuriating for me.
That is so weird - this weekend I was thinking "I really need to clear out my bookshelves! What are the chances of me actually reading Waiting? It's probably not even as good as they said!" So maybe I'll keep it.
Or maybe the Pulitzer committee just didn't like SPOILER that a child blamed herself for her rape at the end of Swamplandia. Horrid.
Or you could look at it as the U.S. abolished slavery less than 100 years after it's inception as a nation whereas it took the UK freaking 800+ years.
Oh, Maxwell Caulfield! It was driving me crazy trying to figure out who he was!
@J P I also for ages read that name as Vicki is a Monster. I didn't know who Vicki was, but I also don't know who Vicks is. Michael Vick? No "s" there. Vicks Vapor Rub? In any case, there is a lot of anger there.
Well, Ted Leo did one of the favorite AV Club Undercovers ever and Aimee Mann is a generally well-regarded artist with minor hits (at least with Til Tuesday) and a movie centered around her music (Magnolia). These are definitely AVClub-famous people.
That joke is good Togo!
Or Angela Lansbury in The Manchurian Candidate.
Oh - I was confused on many levels, but I thought from your earlier comment that you did not like Oxford commas! And then I thought, "who doesn't like OCC cookies?" I am definitely a fan of serial commas.
