@avclub-53a226780628f3d898494942ad3dd491:disqus John Paul Jones was a US Admiral during the War of Independence (who later served in the Russian Navy, truefax).  He just happened to have the same name as the Led Zep bassist, but he had it first.

"Can the doctor order people around when it comes to nonmedical matters? Can he pull rank?"

I'm sure it tastes the same.  The whole "replicated food isn't like the real deal" is just something for future hipsters to complain about.

Nuh-uh!  Worf's adopted dad, remember?

I actually forgot the plot on rewatch (it's been years) and didn't guess it the second time either.  So I would dispute the idea that it's easy to guess that the problem's with O'Brien.

Talladega Nights was fairly average but Baron-Cohen was good in it.

I actually think it's his best film, because it makes fun of white suburban middle class people and thus doesn't make me feel vaguely queasy while watching it.

Game of Thrones does standard fantasy grim-men-fighting-against-supernatural-menace only averagely well.  It does somewhat less standard fantasy courtly-intrigue-and-warfare extremely well.  So while Jon Snow's stuff is the most "important" in that it will probably turn out to be the 'real' conflict everybody should

He's also actually a surprisingly humble character.  I mean, not across the board, but he has no trouble telling his Generals "We're losing" when none of them will admit it.

Mike seems like he's been around so long, that he probably knows a lot of people… so I'm guessing he either has an ability to do shit via contacts, possibly outside the formal scope of his job, that justifies keeping him around in a theoretical capacity he isn't very good at, or alternatively he'd be impossible to
