I'm trying to think of some shows that were ordered straight to series that actually turned out good, and the only one I can come up with off the top of my head is Homicide. What are some others?

My problem with that storyline is that it has nothing to do with the rest of the movie. The two other main plots, the Welles production and the redbaiting committee, are inextricably linked. The committee is painting federal theater as being communist and The Cradle Will Rock is a pro-union production, so the two
