So, does McGee still get paid?

My only familiarty with Over The Top is the SNL sketch where Norm Macdonald is constantly making fun of Stallone about it.

She gets a phone call the next day from a friend who tells her everything the Asian guy said to her was a lie. She was planning on leaving town that morning, but now realizing her capacity to be deceived, she decides to re-interview Jerry, who promptly freaks the fuck out this time.

Both Idris Elba & Clarke Peters have played Mandela. This pleases me.

I love that movie. It's sleaze done well.

I was rather surprised that we didn't get a Woody cameo during those New York episodes of Curb.

Cropping is an issue for all the streaming companies, not just Netflix.

I watched it for the first time and I liked it too, although I have no idea why they decided to give Malkovich this giant head completely out of proportion to the rest of his body. There were some shots where his head appeared to account for about 1/3 of his height.

Then again, drunk sing-alongs are kind of an essential part to most college sporting events.

@avclub-3deae7321deafd837cee7c55bc02b58d:disqus It is Richard Brooks. The full quote is:
“I said, ‘Nobody who was in the Army and now works in civilian security could write a book as good as this,’ ” he said.

“Nobody who was in the Army and now works in civilian security could write a book as good as this."

I finally saw the movie for the first time a couple months back because it was about to be taken off Netflix Instant. I really liked overall, but I had trouble buying the ending. I couldn't really figure out how Karl would wind up back at the insane asylum for something that was so clearly a pre-meditated act.

I hate Amazon Instant because a bunch of their movies are cropped to 16:9, and they don't provide any way of finding out whether that's the case for a given title prior to purchase. That makes it fine for TV shows where everything is 16:9 anyway, but absolutely terrible for movies.

They work hard. They play hard.

That's a good point. Whether Jeselnik is exactly like or completely different from his on-stage persona when not performing shouldn't have any bearing on assessing his comedy. Either it's funny or it isn't.

You have to keep the person separate from the work, which is admittedly more difficult when dealing comedians

@avclub-1b1f9a3e639ecc53f335314fc9d8403b:disqus Fuck, I knew I'd forget one. Updated.

Well, might as well rank them:

I remember when Spartan & Kiss Kiss Bang Bang came out within months of each other and it seemed like Kilmer was making a comeback. Then it all went to shit.

Fun fact: I was actually cautiously optimistic about this show prior to its premiere since Bruce Helford was responsible for two of my favorite 90s sitcoms. Took two episodes to bring me to reality. If nothing else, I can now probably conclude that Drew Carey and Norm Macdonald deserved the lion's share of the credit
