I was born in the 70's. There really isn't much I miss about it since I was a kid at the time. Freaks & Geeks pretty much nails it.

McLovin's aka's aside, I also thought this episode would have some sort of reveal or clue that Guttenberg staged the entire thing. They hinted at it, with his nostalgia for the old days, but then nothing. I'm not sure it would have added all that much to the episode, however, and it would have changed our reading of

Do you know someone else who collects, maybe a little more seriously than you but not seriously enough to bag & board their stuff? They might be willing to pass stuff along to you.

You weren't the only one getting a little teary-eyed during We3. What a great read.

Very happy to see this brief piece with Mr Morrison. I pictured "a sharp exhale from interviewer, who snaps pen in two" when Millar's name came up as a friend.

This late in the game I'm hoping things are straight-forward. But Widmore being alive would make sense for a bunch of reasons:

Artz —well fucking done. I want to rewatch that scene with that post in mind.

The religion parody was clumsily introduced around 1/2 way through. And Chocolate you're right about the absence of cause & effect. The movie had this great premise, some good points, but the structure wasn't there. I also found myself wishing for some left-turns, you know. Throw me something unexpected. Take

I liked the remake a lot too, and I agree with Werdsmiff about the score. Notice how often Martinez's percussion sound get's bitten now to stand for 'sci-fi' or 'futuristic'. He nailed it.

His line reading is awesome. It's kind of nice to not have the video of Brule, for a change, because it makes you appreciate the fucking summersaults John C Reilly's doing to make the character even weirder.

I thought Mogwai would rank higher
Maybe it's just personal preference, but I'd have included Mogwai in the top 5 for sure. You note their impact on recent Scottish bands, but it also extends to the US (EITS, Red Sparrows off the top of my head). Unlike many of the bands on the list they've achieved considerable

There's a pretty direct correlation between fans expectations and the number of disappointed posters here. Except for the finale this has to be one of the most anticipated episodes.

This was what I loved most about the episode, and I can't believe in all the above threads nobody appreciates how sympathetic the dark brother became (is that better than "blackie"? Really?). He was morally in the right the entire episode. His mother can say the ends justify the means, but everything about her

Seeing Locke actually gave me a jump, because I'm so used to him being eeevil.

So you're saying they're both VERY YOUNG, right?

I think GK is being too hard on season 2 wrt laugh out loud moments. I've rewatched 1 & 2 and they both benefited from a second viewing. The depressing or awkward moments fade to the background, and there's still tons of great lines and situations.

No kidding, right? And we're not even 1/2 way through. I have around 2 dozen albums I'm totally looking forward to, and I'm sure there'll be lots of surprises in the fall.

Awesome, thanks for asking! Everything's just going really, really great for me. I feel a little embarassed at trying to be clever.

The word I like to use is "whelmed". It's to be neither over, nor under, -whelmed by something.
Eg:
Q- Hey buddy, what'd you think of "The Invention of Lying", that new comedy by Office creator Rick Gerves?
A- I was whelmed.

Owen Wilson reads this thread, gets up and walks out.
