It was really very sweet that he wanted to do her that kindness but he had no excuse for underestimating her. Him going to her that way had it written all over it that he assumed that, as a woman, she would

@avclub-61938d93498e7f0ed5e6527b1cee656a:disqus   "Killing off the Starks leaves you with no protagonist other than Tyrion—who as we know spends the rest of his plot farting around and doing nothing just like everyone else." Dany, anybody? Who may very well end up joining forces with the remaining Starks + Tyrion?

I think the thing is that in some sense the whole War of the Five Kings plot is kind of a "War is hell" statement. The Starks went into war with a lot of high flying notions of honour and decency and bravery and valiance and you know what? It wasn't worth a shit in the end. They died. Because it's war, and war is

@avclub-858b67085072a6f2403cf500871f4068:disqus By "fans" I was referring to book readers. I do get the sense that viewers are still wedded to the Starks, and when you are still viewing the series in those parameters I understand the frustration that they never get to win. But in fairness, it's pretty easy to see

I think you might be very surprised to find out how many fans don't want the Starks to win the war. You've made an incorrect assumption.

I strongly disagree. I think you're reading differently than most.

Been a long time since I read SoS, when is it implied that one of the boys is his son, and how? Or does it come up in DWD, which I haven't read yet but have allowed myself to be spoiled to almost completely?

All episode I was giddy with anticipation of Dany's badassery, and I was not disappointed.

I don't think there's anything to decode or decipher as far as which party Selina belongs to. Pretty sure the writers haven't assigned her a party. Given they've pledged never to reveal it, it would be sort of silly to choose one in the first place.

I think we all *know* it happens all the time, we just wish it didn't.

Even if all that was a good excuse, just don't perform then. Stand and listen to the recording with everyone else. Why bother with the deception?

I liked a lot of this episode, but I really had to groan at the football girlfriends. I've never been to an American suburb, but it's unbelievable to me that in 2013 any teenage girl would say, "Why would I go to college? I've already met my future husband" with a straight face. I know Chatswin is a wacky place not

I don't know, I didn't like the camera crew reveal. They've used the crew as part of the story really effectively before, many times, but this time it felt gimmicky.

I know people expect stuff like this, and that it is commonplace. I know it was at least a recording of her own voice. But I hate any and all use of lip-synching (well, OK, music videos are one exception I guess). Live or nothing.

Actually, as Daenerys comes into herself, she soon comes across as the most just of the potential rulers. Sure, she rains fire and death on enemies, but she has a certain empathy for smallfolk and innocents that is lacking in most of the others. She is also loyal and gives people good reasons to follow her; she's not

Those last two things must be revealed in one of the last two books, which I have not read yet. That does change my opinion a bit. Maybe he really is some kind of psychopath or sociopath or something and could never have changed.

The other thing is that if Tyrion kills her I'm just assuming that at that point the reader isn't sympathizing with her much. If Tyrion killed a helpless whore I don't know that readers would still love him the way they do.
