If this show goes on a few more years—and I see no reason why it shouldn't—it'll get to the time of the Stonewall Riots, which would sure be an interesting context in which to see Sal.

I can well believe this is terrible, but I'm not gonna lie: this review makes it sound kind of awesome.
Yeah, but the characters in Eternal Sunshine, as I recall, are people with positive traits whom you could root for, whether or not they're made for each other. Not really the case in Malkovich.
"Being John Malkovich isn’t an exercise in surreal abstraction, but ultimately a love story every bit etc."
I do have an issue: the whole thing was poorly-detailed and not interesting. Crikey.
I don't know; I've seen Jared Harris in a fair few other things, and I do not find his Mad Men role notably jarring.
The whole long flashback sequence in Iron Council is maybe the best thing he's ever written. The novel as a whole didn't quite gel, though. I appreciate that he went for the big political ideas, but a lot of the plot strands just turned out half-baked.
The City & The City had an intriguing setting; the problem is that the story quickly degenerated into a rather banal murder mystery. I think it would be a terrible place to start; I really doubt I would have read any of his other stuff if I'd begun there.
Boy, how embarrassing. Another reason to be glad I stopped reading Penny Arcade years ago, if one were needed.
I always find it interesting when people have this reaction: I thought the first half of Perdido Street Station was utterly gripping and brilliant, but in the last half it devolved into what I felt amounted to an extended boss fight, and my ardor was substantially dimmed.
The problem with Kraken is that he has a bunch of interesting ideas, but there's no story to speak of holding them together, and the characters are all big fat nothings. It's like eating a pile of frosting with no cake.
Do I want to read it? MAYBE!
Grim Fandango has the worst obtuse adventure game puzzles EVER. Shame, because the aesthetic was awesome.
I first saw season one when it first aired, and found it not that funny. Then, having seen the next few season, I revisted it and was really amazed by how much better it had magically become. I really do think that knowing the characters better helps it immeasurably.
The only thing I liked about that movie was Topher Grace. True story.
I'm not saying the other movies aren't somewhat problematic in this regard, but Temple of Doom is so comically racist that it's almost charming. Still not a great movie, though, mainly due to the way it doesn't even pretend that its stunts are even remotely "realistic," the way Raiders and Crusade do. That was in…
This is perhaps the silliest comment I have ever seen.
I know most people seem to hate Ziggy with a passion, but for my money, he was one of the most well-realized characters in the whole show.
Fuck do ever I love all three Mescaleros albums. And that's all I have to say.
