We Indians are called Coconuts. I remember this guy I knew said it was because Indians are brown-skinned and hairy, which was kind of offensive, but also kind of funny.

I would say that NBC has been increasing the presence of Asian-Americans on TV today. The Office had Kelly, P&R has Tom, Community has Abed and Chang, 30 Rock and Whitney had Maulik Pancholy, Go On had John Cho and I am probably missing a few more…but I always appreciated the large Asian-American presence on NBC…
Oh ok. That makes more sense. Thanks for explaining!
Ugh. I'm curious, how many network shows have we had with predominantly minority casts? If networks are trying to make diverse shows, why don't we ever see them? I honestly don't understand why every show on TV is so homogeneous.
That's horrible to hear. I don't see why networks wouldn't want more diverse casts in the first place. Shouldn't that just increase viewership diversity?(I am very naive about these things, so I could be absolutely wrong). And if you care about the 18-49 demographic, I am pretty sure the majority of us aren't thinking…
Aren't both Rosa and Amy hispanic?
This isn't on FOX, but Don't Trust the B—- on ABC also had two funny and well-rounded African American characters. I do wish that we had more sitcoms with minority lead characters, though I am glad that slight progress has been made.
And the hispanic characters are both women as well! I haven't completely warmed up to the show just yet, but it is lovely to see such diversity in a sitcom.
The wood anniversary was hilarious.
I thought Kerry Washington's was funny too, thought it seemed like the writers were saving up a bunch of sketches based on stereotypes for her epsiode.
I really liked The Descendants and I love Will Forte, so I am very excited for this!
That screencap is really freaking me out, even though it is so simple (or maybe because of the simplicity?)
His line readings are fantastic. I would watch an episode of him reading the phone book.
I think that's what the writers are building towards. The gang has started making fun of Winston a lot more now that Coach is around, so I hope that leads to a Winston A-story about his place in the group. (Though it may just be wishful thinking. I love New Girl, but every episode that goes by without a Winston…
I really want to see Tran, but I can't see him having a long conversation with Nick right now. Nick is just at a really good place right now. Now a Winston and Tran episode…YES PLEASE.
Deschanel appreciation post: I was smiling with Jess at the end of the episode and I was so happy for her to get a win. The show does a good job of balancing her optimisitic and cynical sides. Also, loved the "hotdog" speech. Deschanel's acting was on point. I'm getting more and more impressed with her with each…
I remember really wanting Jo and Laurie to get together, but being satisfied with her and Bhaer in the end. Though Laurie and Amy never made sense to me and was frankly kinda creepy. I also liked Meg and John Brooks together. Ah, I need to reread the book!
I actually like that everyone in the loft can get crazy. Usually someone functions as the straight man. The guys' plot was weak because no one was sober so we didn't have a straight man, but new girl is usually good about making someone the sane one.
Her?
Which is probably why I liked Jess's plot better. Jess was drunk, but Cece wasn't, which allowed for some pause in the drunkenness. But all the guys were drunk, so it got overwhelming really quickly (though I thought Winston's little plot about the Bunny Money was hilarious. This is where I'll insert my weekly "MORE…
