Yeah, I liked Nacho Libre for what it was.

OK I just googled "Transformers vs GI Joe" and … that art is insane!

on my pull list: Ms Marvel, Archie, Gotham Academy, Wayward, Squirrel Girl, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Silk, Southern Cross, Prez

Super hero origin stories are known for their plausibility.

I feel that way about "Dog Day Afternoon" for '70s NYC.

Coincidentally the U.S. keeps cutting funding for basic research.

I'm reading New Teen Titans volume 3 right now. I didn't really connect with vol 1 (the story lines seemed kind of muddled) and I'm glad I stuck with it, it really picked up over the next two volumes.

I rather like "Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band".

I love Pulido's She-Hulk but it's a very particular (and somewhat peculiar) style.

Love SG! Haven't tried it out on the kid yet, actually.

Monstress is beautiful but brutal…

Yeah. And for me it's not so much violence (we read classic Red Sonja), but wordy stories that move slowly, or have confusing time lines, or just are narratively complex— which I can enjoy as an adult, but is hard for the 4-year-old.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is my daughter's favorite new comic. It's hard to find good all-ages comics from the Big 2. (She concluded Devil Dinosaur is an allosaur, based on arm length.)

Merchandising.

Consumers have never put a higher premium on overall technical quality

Yeah me too - Most of the ones listed here, I'd have no idea. (Nicolas Cage and Bruce Willis, because I've seen photos of their actual hairlines.)

I guess there's "violence" and then there is "zombies getting shot in the face."

It's been rumored that he's attached to the long gestating Shazam title.

Same - and it spurred a lot of interesting conversations with my daughter.

I haven't read Aristotle on emotions, but that's interesting because Aristotle analyzed happiness (eudaimonia) in external terms, as the sum total of your life.
