Of course, there is no reason they couldn't put her in sensible — eh, who am I fooling.

Followed by angry tweets about how they ruined the books by casting a bunch of dark-skinned actors for the roles.

I think you're thinking of trademark, not copyright? (IANAL)

OK. I got that she had thought a lot about her own personal journey, which would be the opposite of lacking self-awareness. But teach their own.

Yeah, my daughter didn't bat an eye at female Thor. Hey, she picked up the hammer, that makes her Thor.
One problem is that nobody has come up with a genuinely iconic superhero in decades.

I was reading the Soule/Pulido She-Hulk today and noticed in one panel she has a "He-Hulk" poster, which seemed like a sly commentary on that whole issue.

Yeah - I don't think I've seen it since 1979(!) so I don't know how it well it holds up, but it had some genuine SF ideas. "Wrath of Khan" is a great film but in some ways was a step backward (or maybe just sideways) to a more traditional action film.

What you got from this piece is that Esposito lacks self-awareness?

Will it be in 3D CGI or will it be live action starring Jim Carrey? And will it be a gritty reboot?

I think I can understand his ambivalence — it's one thing to be typecast, another to be typecast in a single specific character role … but man, what a role. One of the most iconic ever.

Supergirl Vol 1

I just finished the Spider-Man Epic Collection v1, awesome stuff.

Batgirl - I've been reading this with my daughter. I really like the lighter touch and non-porny costume design. But looks like they may be taking the title in a different direction after #40. It's hard to find good superhero comics for young girls (she's 4 so stuff like Captain Marvel is still a little too complex

The art didn't really do it for me — maybe because the panels were so itty-bitty? I'm usually OK with very stylized art.

Thanks. And I appreciate that across time, space, and multiverses, JJJ being a dick is a universal constant.

"I never said I was Thor." (Female Thor pounding someone with Mjolnir.)

Say what you like about the talkiness of the old Lee/Ditko era, at least you could jump into a comic mid-stream.

Picked up Spider-Gwen yesterday. My biggest problem was that despite "issue #1" it drops you in without explaining anything about who these people are or what's going on. It's just Vulture attacking somebody for some reason that is somehow connected with some angsty stuff that somebody else is whinging about. I

Yeah it seems like a proper review would talk more about what the film was trying to do and engage with it at that level. I learned more from the comments, actually.

This review makes me want to see the film. Striking images + playing with form.
