Ha! Yeah, I think I overlooked the coolest part of my own analogy, which is a magical hammer that builds shit for you.

It's like having a hammer that you can use to nail together some bookshelves, but occasionally while you're gone, the hammer also puts together a coffee table, because Ikea was running a promotion.

Because people still of think of software as a tool that enables them to do things.

The thing I got from Just Kids is that Patti Smith doesn't believe in trashing other people's art. She'll say something doesn't speak to her, but not that it's rubbish, because maybe it speaks to someone else. She's relentlessly positive, which Is kind of naïvely cool. Basically the opposite of a cynic.

Ditto, I don't care about zombies per se but Afterlife is terrific. (In both senses.)

Finally catching up on Fraction/Aja Hawkeye in TPB.

It's a school of thought

I liked it during about the same period, but always had a problem with how incompetent Lisbon was. Actually Jules in Psych always struck me as a better version of that character.

"We want … a shrubbery!"

I love that the eye-witness felt compelled to offer some impromptu film criticism.

the dignity of the art of comics

The premise of "Sweatshop" sounds promising enough but those excerpts are not doing it for me.

And how many pass the reverse Bechdel?

I think it's because men can turn any conversation around to the subject of men.

I was looking at my kid's book collection the other day (she's four) and was dismayed at how few pass the Bechdel test. I think the only ones that passed were Frozen (obviously) and the Tinkerbell comics, which are actually pretty good.

- Angela: Asgard's Assassin. Jury still out, but I'll stick with it.

That looks pretty bad, tho' for some reason "I said you're free to go!" made me laugh.

Yeah. Especially because the identity of fake-Batgirl was a mystery. When it's revealed, Batgirl literally says something like "Oh, but you're—" and then they keep fighting. I didn't read that as trans-phobic.

Same here. Definite anime vibe, in keeping with the style of the show.
