Hope you get better soon Spicey.

Think about a lost and abandoned $20 note fluttering next to your feet. If you'd bend down to pick it up, it's a cold. If you wouldn't, because if you bend down you feel like you might die, it's flu.

"the flu is the absolute worst"

As though it's not bad enough that you've got the flu, it didn't even have the decency to hit you on a work-day.

Liked for "nonce sense"

Have you read Nabin's Year of Flops entry for Mystery Men? It was part of the original year. I think he quite liked it.

Happy Birthday young'un! And good look with the move.

Yeah, we have that yet to come. The one we watched has him keep Soccer-Bitch's kids entertained by getting them to cross-dress.

TV:

Sorry, I started on Agents of SHIELD in the replies to Mohd above. Short version is that I agree with you. It was ok. Let's see where it goes.

Local Orphan Black thread for local people. And @LurkyMcLurkerson:disqus . And anyone else who wants to join in; we're up to the third ep.

Out of Sight is a joy. Please can we have more of that Jennifer Lopez, rather than the other one.

I kinda enjoyed the SHIELD pilot without feeling all that impressed by it - like the review here put it, it's played very safe. Then I reminded myself that of all the Whedon-show pilots, only Firefly's was particularly good (so good that Fox refused to broadcast it). I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops and

@avclub-bbb04f2a70775131fa0397bbdb4c03de:disqus - it doesn't get much use in this corner of North-West Europe either. I have only ever heard it applied to certain gay subcultures, Bevis in the And Now For Something Completely Different version of the Lumberjack Song, and a spider.

It goes up to, and I quote verbatim here:

I'd never heard the term "fridging" before today (though I'm familiar with the trope I think you're referring to).

@avclub-04d524031f29c89d78cae864bd6f0de7:disqus - if it makes you feel better, my main takeaway from a whole degree in chemistry is to laugh uproariously in the film Blade when he uses Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) as a weapon. Who knew that hexadentate ligands killed vampires?
