I've only seen "Repilot" so far after buying them on iTunes, and I must say I'm pretty hopeful! Though I'm not sure I like the show's way of generating conflict anymore by pitting the group against each other in a seemingly destructive way, and then saving it with a Winger speech. Yes, I know, the show has recognized

How about "The Wonder Years"? Some of the most nostalgic moments I've ever experienced with TV come from that show.

I'm actually the opposite: I was honestly glad (though not surprised) that it was fake; otherwise, Changnesia as a reset ploy would have been way too jarring, considering how the show progressively pushed the antagonist role pretty hard throughout the series.

Oh come on, it wasn't that bad.

Wow. I really wish he/they/whoever *don't* do this, unless it's a serious deconstruction of the good/bad of season 4. (Though, given noted tendencies in the past, I don't think it'll be serious.) This will further cheapen an already-ridiculous situation.

Awesome! I had some kind of (probably silly) hope that S5 would improve with the current showrunners, but having Harmon back is even better! Admittedly, I'm 90% excited and 10% annoyed… this whole process has led to a ridiculous amount of drama after a pretty-decent season that was followed by a lackluster one,

@avclub-5cacf3537687ab9a5b03778cfb57f476:disqus that's probably the best way to put it! I've defended various chunks of this season by pointing out perceived flaws of Season 3, despite liking it a lot (and even moreso than this one, from a hysterical-laughter standpoint). I just think that people need to calm down,

Awesome! I'll look forward to it… who else?

Season 3 is definitely guilty of that, too, if people really want to go there. I didn't agree with that before because I figured it was all character development, and

I'm curious: if Season 5 does happen, is there a particular thing in a character's background that people want addressed (e.g. Jeff-meeting-his-dad kind of thing)?

I liked this season a lot as well, but I think most of his criticisms are fair and valid. The thing that bugged me, though, was an apparent unwillingness by lots of folks (definitely not just him) to say they liked something they actually liked; most things would generally be summarized as "not being the worst thing

For me:

This episode was a solid "C" for me (the lowest grade I'd give to any episodes). I agree, Todd, that this was an ambitious failure, though there were some things I did like about it. I think this is the episode that finally made me think that the self-referential humor was too much. I've always thought this was a fair

But the realism is tied to emotion, I think. I'd rather have a group react to someone who's in denial (Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas) or to each other when finding out dark/intimate secrets (Intro to Felt Surrogacy) than a good chunk of the 'external stuff'.

Call Me Carlos the Dwarf: I agree, and their reactions were hilarious (moreso than this season's), but that doesn't necessarily make it any more grounded in realism (less so than season 1, 2, and, dare I say it, 4), which is what a significant fraction of commenters have complained about this season.

Thank you, LloydBraun!

I think that's one of the gripes I have with Dan Harmon, to be honest. He and others took Chang, who was probably the funniest character in season 1, and ruined him. Season 3 definitely showcased that. Keeping it real, though, he did co-write my favorite Community episode (Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas), so it's not

He gets paid for thoughtful commentary… and we don't! It's that easy!

Favorite episode: Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas

I liked season 3 more than season 4 (because it was undeniably funnier), but I've started to retroactively dislike it more and more as this season progressed, mainly due to most comments about how some characters did things "they wouldn't normally do."
