Some of my best friends are rappers.
Some of my best friends are rappers.
Yeah, this week and last week seemed to hinge on the idea that repeating a silly sounding nonsense phrase a couple thousand times amounts to humor. It's lazy and not even mildly entertaining.
Oh don't get me wrong, I liked them too. It's just that they were definitely not as interesting as the galactic-scale stuff that was going on elsewhere.
Oh, also: I would have probably liked CotS more if it was, say, in the middle of a series that was already out. While I was reading it, though, I couldn't help but think that Vinge is 67 years old and only puts out one book every five years or so. If this is the last book we see from him, it will be a disappointing…
David's right on the money - the two books are only tangentially related, and both are excellent.
My reaction wasn't quite as strong, but was of the same nature. The Tines World bits in FotD were okay, but they were nowhere near as compelling as the galactic apocalypse that was going on elsewhere. To have waited for so long for a sequel and then have it effectively not advance the main plot at all was quite a…
You know, when I first saw this I was not that impressed with it. Now, having had a few months to reflect on it, I realize that it's actually fucking terrible.
No thanks, after Tree Of Life I think I'd rather watch my cat lick his nonexistent balls for a couple of hours.
Good to see the Lips are still concentrating on packaging and stunts instead of writing good music.
The music is kinda cool, hopefully next time he'll actually write some lyrics that amount to more than one sentence per song.
I was just wondering when they'd have a new one out a couple of days ago. Can't wait!
I've never found Larry The Cable Guy funny, but that bit about David Cross envying his career is pretty good.
Whoa, let's not all talk at once.
No love for "La Grippe" by the Squirrel Nut Zippers?
That poor duck will grow up without ever seeing a decent sized pond. :(
Yeah, I was really excited to hear that they had some new tracks coming out, but this just sounds like any given excerpt from Songs for Silverman, which sucked.
I hope the rumors are wrong
Tate was not funny in the slightest. Spader was great as a one-off, but I really don't need to see any more of that character.
Still mystified
Colin Quinn's career always has baffled me and always will. I have never heard him say a single funny thing, and every time he shows up on TV I just end up feeling mildly embarrassed for him.
For future reference
If you're going to try to make fun of a genre of shitty music, try not to do it via even shittier music. This is seriously awful, repetitive, and unimaginative.
If you're reviewing British TV…
You should start with Misfits. It's an awesome show, and more people in the US should know about it.
