If, truly, nobody beats the Wiz, then by de facto they're all winners.

Don't ever speak ill of The Wizard of Speed and Time.

According to Variety, it averaged 5.5 million viewers per episode. Maybe Netflix or Amazon will try to pick it up?

The movie: 'Snoopy, Come Home'
The moment: every time the 'No Dogs Allowed' song came along, in the great Thurl Ravenscroft's Voice of Doom, no less.

Yay! They used to show this on HBO all the time in the early days of cable, and it remains a terrific bad movie.

I haven't seen it since it was in the theaters; maybe it's time to give it another go.

The novel isn't that obvious or hacky. The spirit of the Overlook quickly sees that Jack is the weakest member of the family, and sets out to use all of his weaknesses to break him. In the novel, you actually care about the guy, so it's really sad to see him slowly being driven insane.

I'm a Kubrick fanatic and a guy who loved King's novel. I agree with everything that King said about Kubrick's movie, and I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that 'The Shining' would have been the ideal project for Kubrick and Spielberg to collaborate on (take a hike, 'AI'). You'd get Kubrick's technical

It looks to me like the only existential threat that Israel is currently facing is Israel itself. Another five years (at most) of their current policies and they're going to find themselves completely isolated politically and economically from the rest of the world.

And yet somehow it's the intra-faith fighting that's the worst of all, whether it's the Hundred Years War or the centuries of Sunni-Shiite hostility.

Unfortunately, that's what usually happens when people plant themselves down where some other people were already living.

Sorry to be a downer, but it depresses the hell out of me that giving weapons, sovereignty, and a little bit of land to the most consistently-oppressed people in history was all it took to turn them into oppressors themselves.

Not yet, but I think if you give the world another 10 or 15 years, a gay Bond would be accepted by everyone but the Santorum types (no, not that… the other Santorum types).

You never, ever saw this sort of stuff in the 1950s.

Yep… Imagine what might have been if those lawsuits hadn't shut Bond down after 1989, and they'd made a few more with Dalton. Sooner or later, they would have had to given him a good script (and hopefully a fresh director) just by chance.

Cut it some slack. Hank Azaria's reading of 'You tricked me with a ruse so hackneyed it would make Stan Lee blush!' will never not be funny.

Nobody loves Peanuts more than I do; right now I'm looking at a poster of Snoopy sleeping on his doghouse that's pinned up in my cubicle. I really hope this movie is great, and I'll be there opening weekend to see it no matter what the reviews end up saying.

Yeah, but they all carry swords instead.

Mick Mars fuckin rules, man! Crüe forever

Feel free to steal my idea: I'm velcroing a bunch of ping-pong balls to a dark gray track suit and carrying around a big piece of green cardboard, and going as motion-capture Gollum before the CGI was finished.
