The only problem is that HBO makes $7 per subscriber through cable companies. $5 standalone HBO GO would cause MASSIVE cannibalization and be net-net negative for HBO.

Yeah, try getting your schedule so that you can watch 81 baseball games live at the stadium each year. Even the most dedicated STH can't manage that. That's why TV is a blessing.

CBS streams free, but TBS/TNT still requires authentication after a few hours.

What is you support a lesser-profile team in an out-of-market city, like SDSU (let's not talk about March Madness, now…) in the East Coast?

Cable's not close to dead. You're dead wrong/

And to add to that, those people probably won't change.

They do though. IIRC, most episodes on Amazon are $3 an HD episode after it airs. The season DVD is probably slightly cheaper per episode.

Gets expensive though when you watch a lot of TV. E.g., me: 15-20 shows in a given week x $2-3 HD = $30-60 a week.

You can.

Chomp chomp cannibalization.

How is this superior to Hulu Plus, though?

Plus, a la carte isn't particularly cheaper. ESPN currently commands $5 per subscriber from cable companies; but a la carte — where subscriber counts would be less —, the company would have to command multiples of that to make the same revenues.

It's a matter of market sizing, though. All of the opinions saying that piracy is justified or HBO needs to change here are preaching to the choir.

Because piracy is illegal, and content makers and actors deserve to be paid. If everyone was as selfish as you, there would be no content.

There is a concept called "willingness to pay". HBO is content with its current subscriber count, because there are a lot of people willing to pay to get HBO through current legal methods.

So good riddance to Steve, right?

Yet Matt Czuchry looks pretty much the same.

Gonzaga looks terrible right now…

Ugh.

They've definitely played the Lauren and Wyatt won't work thing since the beginning, but the romantic inevitability always seemed to be Ryan and Lauren. Glad that's not appearing to happen (at least for now). Plus it looks like the best way to integrate Ryan's workplace and the group.
