Parker Posey is a goddess. That is all.

Larry Miller had a bit about the stages of drinking that always cracked me up. One of the later stages has you at a bar where the waitress had fresh stitches. Comedy gold!

@ Butters That's the one! Hilarity.

I too saw this in the theater. I remember thinking a scene of Bill Murray driving was absolutely hilarious.
Also: Joanne Whalley in that outfit tells me I need to see this movie again.

you had me
at "Keira Knightley"

swan lake?
Is the movie just as good if you don't know anything about Swan Lake? Or ballerinas?
Don't get me wrong, I'll go see it anyway. Just trying to gauge how much ballet stuff is going to be lost on me.

i'm on board with Southland Tales also. lots of flaws, but i enjoyed it. not that i'll watch an animated prequel. or read graphic novels. or screenplays. or animated prequels of screenplays of novels, with a dash of fake screenplay thrown in for good measure.

Firth will win - he's got a larger body of work (so the Academy can think they're rewarding his entire career), and this movie is something they drool over. Franco will get nominated, and the nomination alone will be considered a win. But he's young, they'll figure he's got a good chance of winning in the future.

Yep, I'm jumping on that Emperor's New Groove thing also- that's a great movie right there. If this one is anywhere in the same ballpark as that, I'm in.

the only Down By the Water
that matters is the PJ Harvey one.

paul potts vs. susan boyle
I kind of thought the Paul Potts story was always a little bit better. I was sad when people talked about Susan Boyle like her story was incredibly unique, when essentially the same thing had already happened. On the same show. Less than 5 years prior.

music
Seriously, how good is the music in this movie? I'd pay good money for the classical music bits- especially the one as Wadsworth is explaining and they're all running from room to room. Classic.

November 2005
Was this the worst time in music history or what?

Does It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World count? I say it counts, and I say it's funny.
Or how about the end of Ferris Bueller?

cultural catalyst
And not sure how I missed seeing it until now, but that tombstone is completely wonderful.

so
Apparently this is not the 80s horror movie House. With the sequel, House II: The Second Story. Which I was kind of hoping to read about, cause I was surprised anyone remembered it. Oh well.

Flops: The Third Stage
If you're open to suggestions, maybe the concept of the Flop is what we look at here. Do you still need to restrict yourself to strict financial flops? Plenty of movies made a profit but are still considered flops of a sort.

I'd forgotten about this, but there's a hazy memory of MTV (or VH1, or both) showing this a few times. Obv never got the reception of his other stuff. But I'd wager that at the time it came out, it was more available than it seems now.

Or
As Sheen would call it, "just another weekend."

I'm going with Sasha Grey + Alyssa Milano. This means she is hot.
