Glad to hear I'm not the only one who thought the songs were the worst part of the movie. And, for me anyway, not even really the songs- specifically Jack's voice. For the 'scary' King of Halloween, his voice is far too….nice?
and still
no review of the new Old 97's. for the record, it's excellent.
For real. I just caught that- and then got excited cause I thought maybe this for some reissue I hadn't heard about. Nope, just the old 2002 review. Huh.
Seriously though, Mojave 3 is swell. And this album has 'Some Kinda Angel' on it, which is great.
sports coverage on the AVClub?
Anyone else ever think the AVClub should do some sort of sports coverage from a media criticism or pop culture standpoint? Obv it's a subject covered to death elsewhere, but usually in a facts/stats/personality commentary perspective.
I sometimes think it'd be interesting to see the…
Sy….onara. Boom!
Erin
Will definitely have to check out that discussion on Erin's intelligence. With last week and this week, I think the writers have gone too far with just how stupid she is. I think they're aiming for cute and endearing in a goofy way, and they're they're hitting Homer Simpson not knowing how to dial a phone.

trombone?
So did they have a trombone going on in the band at some point? Cause I saw them open up for Dance Hall Crashers (this would be….say '96), and the lead singer busted out a trombone on a few songs. It was odd. And I have a hard time reconciling the band I saw with what they sounded like later.
So maybe I'm…
She's a wreck, but there's talent there. This could be good. Or it could be a tragically ludicrous. But I'll hold out hope that it's good.
@Strom Thurmond
@Retro90s- seriously- Lush. Ciao is an awesome song.
meh
Tom Waits is the sound of a man banging on a broken sink in a junkyard. Interesting, clever, and sometimes funny, but not listenable.
And it reminds me a bit of the Out of Sight poster, which was excellent.
@blooptaabi, i totally agree. i remember thinking while the state was on that kevin allison was one of the main guys. he wasn't my fave, and i lean towards thinking michael ian black was the 'star' (if they had one). but it's baffled me how low key his career has seemed next to a few of the other guys.
I've read a few things where Dean has pretty consistently mentioned the 2 vs. 1 dynamic. It would be a factor in any disagreements, because he'd get outvoted.
the
fucking catalina wine mixer
points for using the word 'shitheel'. it's funny cause it's true.
True, the Chaplin Keystone Cops movie was found. IIRC, he wasn't cut, they just lost the entire movie. And then found it.

Parker Posey from Sleepless in Seattle. A glaring omission.
