i would argue "house -tinged" is a perfect description. those elements are there, they're just really, really subtle.

Rabin making a contradictory and frankly sort of hypocritical joke? You don't say?

@avclub-96c4e55b0a015b4d860c4af4c9f1eea7:disqus I dunno if this is an album that you can really appreciate on first listen. A lot of the tracks (Pilot Jones, White, Bad Religion, Pink Matter) really grew on me with multiple listens. I'd give it at least a few more spins, personally.

FUCK EM YE

Gotham is the most affecting song I've listened to all year.

I saw an advanced screening of this the other day and I didn't hate it. It's a trifle, but it's got a surprisingly zany sense of humor. Sometimes this fell flat (especially the lame iChat sections), but most of the time it worked. The audience I saw it with laughed at pretty much every beat, and honestly so did I.

You are thinking of "You Look Nice Today"

As someone who saw them on the same tour, I'm willing to say you missed out. of Montreal's show just got better and better as it progressed. Janelle was probably still better, and if you're not into the crazy puppets and costumes than oM is probably gonna bore you to tears, but I really enjoyed both acts.

Why? of Montreal are a great live band. They put in exceedingly long shows with lots of neat diversions, and even if you don't like the theatrical aspects of their show, there's still nine brilliant musicians up there playing great pop songs.
