I don't think it's the pointing out how the news is manipulative that gets anyone's goat, but the practice of substituting the audience for the producers, and the women in particular.

I haven't seen Sports Night and, though I adore the West Wing, haven't seen it for years (been saving myself up to a marathon) so I haven't really been bothered by repetition.

I hope they don't do that. I would feel the show was selling out if they were to have Annie start oil wrestling, or Annie dressing up as a sexy infantile Mrs Clause, or naming a pet monkey Annie's Boobs.
