I will cancel plans if I see an episode coming on in syndication that centers on Buck Strickland.  His wonton disregard for anything legal or holy, and his general libertine ways are such a contrast to Hank's moral uprightness that it's always a wonder why Hank has such reverence for Strickland.  Hank acts like Buck

Hell, I'd watch that.  I'd even just listen to a table-reading of it.

"What's wrong with socks and sandals?"  Even Mr. Cool gets a moment where he's a total dork.

"Smart nothing; I like to hump, I like to eat, and I don't like to drive."

They got a few great digs in at Oklahoma's expense — which I loved, since I grew up in OKC.

"Middle England" sounds like a place with elves and shit.

I think @Logoboros:disqus  has it right: it's more a critique of Hank's reasons for voting for a particular candidate than anything else.

Don't forget that Booby went to Tom Landry Middle School — and Landry wasn't even dead at the time!

"This muggy November weather gives me the horribles."

"Huh-huh, black-out!"

"So, Bill, which one did you—"
"All of them!"

I absolutely adore KOTH, and for completely different reasons than the author.  I would have picked 10 different episodes, and they would have presented another side of the show — one that had much more to do with the people Hank deals with outside his family, especially Buck Strickland, Khan, Dale, Bill, Boomhauer,

Easily the best treatment of a young woman reaching that milestone as seen from a man's point of view ever shown on TV.

HOO-yeah!

They introduced her kryptonite — her insecurity over her huge feet — early enough in the series that it forever humanized her in my eyes.  Most of her obnoxiousness stems from her wanting to overcome that feeling of insecurity. And Najimy's voice acting whenever the subject of Peggy's feet comes up and she retreats

"Hurry up.  We gotta get to Dallas early, before the gangs wake up."

Yup.
Mm-hmm.
BoyItellyouwhatmanyouhitadangold…home run, man.

@avclub-0d2c24a1e077ed4a259a9034dc03394a:disqus , Malinger-Her laughs at her mother for saying, "That Hank Hill is such a sweetheart."

@avclub-774c4a3e756c4d8f28b15a27ed4408c7:disqus , that line perfectly encapsulates Hank Hill.

You mean that Cotton's defining physical attribute is purely a product of animation, right?  Because if you're talking about his overall character, I would say that, as with everything else about KOTH, it's real — maybe exaggerated, but in no way false or disconnected from reality.  I grew up surrounded by people like
