"In order for me to get down, I got to get in D.  Down D.  Funky D."

"Who's that drummer?"

I absolutely love the second half of disc 2, too.  "Get It Together" is some of his best call-outs to the band.  Even though you know they had rehearsed every note of that 100 times, they always sounded fresh, tight, and spontaneous.

[In Dublin accent]: "Soul has corners!"

Mr. Dynamite

"Whatchoo gonna play now?"
"Bobby, I don' know.  But what's'n'ever I play, it's got to be funky!"

I don't think the opening credits visuals should be taken so literally.  At any rate, they refer less to suicide than to a man who has the floor fall out from underneath him.  It refers to sudden change, chaos, and all sorts of forces beyond his control.

When Bert Cooper does a cannonball into that pool, we'll know that it's time to pack it in.

Like Clyde Barrow, Bob Benson is impotent.

In my family (well, on my father's side, at least) people seem to live into their 90s.  Their bodies do, at least, with great assistance from medicine.  Their minds don't always make it.

I was pretty unequivocally positive toward him until this week, when we saw him listening to some motivational record to pump up his power of positive thinking and learn some soulless, meaningless business-speak.  I hate that shit.

'Cause he was in looooooove with Sylvia.
