@Scrawler2:disqus , and any lawyers or constitutional scholars who may be around: I have a question about that "shouting 'Fire!' in a crowded theater" thing.  Strictly speaking, it should be falsely shouting "Fire!", should it not?  I think in that specific hypothetical circumstance, the ruling was that false or

Well, I haven't flown in a year, but I doubt it's gone completely downhill since then (although I didn't consider the effects of the sequester until this very moment).  Anyway, in the last decade, I've flown at various times, and repeatedly, out of Chicago (O'Hare), Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Minneapolis, and New York

Well, they were obviously lesser quality employees of sub-standard private contractors back before and on 9/11.  There was a big push to get them on the federal payroll in 2001-2002 because it would require they pass stricter background checks, have more education and experience, and just be better all-around

@avclub-1b1f9a3e639ecc53f335314fc9d8403b:disqus , I'm not a board-licensed psychologist or anything, but I've done some book-learnin', and I'd say that lack of empathy is a big red-flag for a mental illness that makes it difficult for one to live effectively in a society with others.  That also makes me, as a member

Hey, you're not the only one who thinks ex-cons should be allowed to vote, @avclub-3be42d8a3412057f79af152555e39bd4:disqus !  I guess I'm alright with not letting people in prison or still connected to the penal system (e.g., on parole) vote, but once their sentences are over (discharged, or whatever the fancy

Fucking flamethrowers! (with apologies to George Carlin)

The NRA.V. Club

There are some clauses in there regarding Cadillacs that are going to bankrupt the nation.

"He's a maverick!  So, you can't predict what [nation he'll advocate we bomb] next!"

Let's not pretend that increased car ownership and decreased public transportation ridership happened in a total free-market arena where the "better" mode of transportation won.  Those cars allowed people to commute to and from suburban areas, where much of the housing and even job growth was happening in post-WWII

Apparently there are still pawn shops, too.

@avclub-4caf6aa0375b2499ebfe7e971b36eee3:disqus , what, did things get so bad you had to pawn your "D" key?

…always watching…

Hey, we need a "Spoiler Alert," there!

This ain't the Tolerability Index, @avclub-4caf6aa0375b2499ebfe7e971b36eee3:disqus .

I don't even have conversations!

Not really.  Only in the former American republic of Foxistan.

Speaking of that, we haven't had an attempted hijacking of an airliner in years.  Isn't it about time we cut back on all this airport security, with its federal (read: unionized; expensive) workers?  Surely we'd be just as safe with high-school drop-outs and ex-convicts handling security for us, like they did before

Except that the Democrats rolled over and played dead when Bush-43 was president, and voted overwhelmingly in favor of right-wing-wet-dream legislation like the Patriot Act and the authorization to invade Iraq.  The Republicans are not just being an opposition party; they're being an obstructionist party, doing

There is no way Joe Biden will get the nomination, even if he decided to run.  He's too old, mostly.  I'm afraid that works against Hillary Clinton, too.
