Today's world is so dynamic and fast changing that movies are obsolete just a week or two after their release. For example, I went to see Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy a few weeks after it's release and it seemed so dated. Everything was drab and gray compared to the fresh new releases I could have been watching.

My theory is that, after some reflection, she realized that you can't make Don Draper happy by doing something nice for him. The only way he can be happy is if he has to be the one in control. So she gives him that as his birthday present and, in return, gets the affection and gratitude that she wanted all along.
