Robuttnik, I believe I've asked this before, but where did you get the pic of your avatar? Who is that?  She looks like me.  It kinda freaks me out.

Thinking of this because of Netflix recommendations… speaking of Father Ted, has anyone ever watched "Bless Me, Father"?  My boyfriend watches it sometimes (he also watches Father Ted).  I've watched a few episodes of "Bless Me, Father" and liked them. It seems very gentle and nice.  I like it to doze off to on the

That's a false analogy.  Are there kids who are bullied and shamed and miserable because of their homophobia?  Are there kids who consider suicide because of their fear of admitting to their folks that they are homophobic?

OK fair enough.  I just turned thirty, though, and it's freaking me out.

This is precisely why I was so surprised by my mom's phone call.  I guess I don't think he's hideous, necessarily, but he's not exactly a sex symbol.

It is WEIRD to see this song on here today.  I just heard "American Girl" on my radio on the drive to work this morning, and it always kind of stuns me for a moment.  I associate it so strongly with my first real boyfriend, as I listened to it a lot when we first fell for each other and we were both big fans of Tom

The Space Pope, I am a physics teacher and also teach a class on women in science and engineering.  Can I quote you on this? :)

I came here specifically looking for that!  Maybe next week?

He is beautiful.

Donny Pfaster is TERRIFYING.  Those two episodes are the scariest to me, even worse than "Home," which is somehow too grotesque to really scare me at the same time.

Just curious: why'd you hate it? I really enjoyed it.

Holy cow, is "The Gone Away World" ever awesome.  I love that book.  About Time is right, everyone SHOULD read it.

Yeah, I mean, according to the sign in the opening credits, Twin Peaks is a town of 50,000 people.  So you've got a decent chance of not seeing Bob crawl over your couch or whatever.

Miller, you remain awesome, and my internet crush.  (I was unregistered and went by Liz1981 previously.)  Just keeping you up to date.

I love that.  I haven't been to a game in months.  Glad he still does it.  I associate that song with baseball now, because of him.

Aw, my boyfriend and I recently decided/realized that Crazy Train is "our song." I wish some of the White Sox had that as their at-bat music.

Oh man.  I'm also a White Sox fan.  Trading Swish broke my heart.

Yeah, that happens. But that doesn't say anything about the big picture.  On average, college-educated men make about $50,000, and men who only have a high school degree make about $29,000 (this is from 2003, and is about the U.S. as a whole, no other countries).

I understand why you'd think that.  I read an article about this on Slate, too, and about 30 people made a similar comment, except they were assholes about it.

I had to read it as a high school junior, and it was the chapter devoted entirely to the tortoise crossing the road that made me decide not to continue reading.  That was enough, in my mind.  It wasn't for me.
