Really thoughtful write up, Carrie!
Really thoughtful write up, Carrie!
I've heard a lot of good things about The Fosters, especially here, but after last week and this week, I can't say I see the appeal. Well, Jude is adorable and Mariana is one of the most realistic TV teens I've ever seen. But Brandon makes my brain scream.
I'm surprised at how quickly they wrapped up the John and Daphne stuff. I loved it but wow, that was fast. The same could be said for the end of Team Kennish-Vasquez - is it wrong that I hope Bay feels left out of all the fun and joins the field hockey team again?
That seems unlikely, if only because the show has no trouble dropping male love interests. If Berdy were the problem, they would have just dropped him. It would have been pretty easy to keep Melody and mention that Emmett was trying to reconnect with his dad, off screen.
If it helps, the Internet voted for it. It's part of the Lego Cuusoo series: http://lego.cuusoo.com
Noah was more of a Bay thing, I think? I never really saw Daphne as reciprocating, beyond being really into kissing, same with Travis.
Seriously. I like to think a nice Bay/Emmett reunion would help though :)
I think she would. She had no problem talking about her past experiences with the intern Coto knocked up and I'd say she's way closer to Bay.
*sigh* I liked this half season but man, I prefer school-year Bay and Daphne. Though I wouldn't mind seeing how this crew handles the holiday season. Wait, has there been anything like that before on this show? Kennish dinners always get weird, you'd think we would have had at least an awkward Thanksgiving by now!
I'm not sure Daphne has an innate goodness thing going on but she definitely has an impulse control failure thing going on, it's been there since day 1. Sometimes tied to dudes, sometimes not. Going to see Emmett at the music festival and getting in the tent with him, lying about needing a new hearing aid to get money…
@avclub-e3f5ab7f02122f95b801e13e2c586d6a:disqus - I don't know, Publick and Hammer aren't tricky that way, that I recall at least. And there were an awful lot of clips, to many for toss aways.
That really was the sizzle reel that kept on giving.
I lean towards overreacting too. The only question is, how did they did manage to get a restraining order? I could definitely see Regina showing up on their birthday or something and the Kennishes claiming it freaked the girls out, even if neither actually saw her.
Graduating high school early isn't that hard, actually. The way she laid it out for the guidance counsellor, her Junior/Senior year would be packed, as would her summer, but she could pull it off. Plus, more time at school means less time at home. She could also have potentially signed up for community college…
Maybe meeting Daphne the way he did originally (defending her against bullies) helped make him more hardlined against hearing people. Or maybe it's a Melody thing; meeting Daphne that way could have potentially made her more prone to rant on the subject in front of her son.
My thought process is: Original!Timeline Bay has whatever time and means Kathryn had for styling her hair all to herself. In the alternate universe of this episode, with two girls, Kathryn has less time to deal with Bay's hair, which is completely different from her own. This is one more thing that makes Bay feel…
Aw, I thought the Bay/Emmett stuff was a nice call back to how they met and got close in the first place - looking for Angelo. Right down to the image of Regina pregnant.
I think there must not have been as big a media circus, which attracted Angelo in the first place. The court room for custody seemed a lot emptier than the court room for suing the hospital anyway.
At least it's potentially less gross than the Chef Jeff thing? Which, to actually type it, is damning it with fain praise.
I don't mind Jace as much as most people but I'm actually a little worried about this development. Who's to say he won't use Daphne the way he was hoping to use the drunk girls at his party - for muckraking political purposes? OTOH, we could get muckraking Daphne and that has its appeal…
