One other thing - I thought James Franco's performance made that movie, along with Josh Brolin…I thought Sean Penn was pretty good, and Hersch was just terrible.
I completely agree - Milk was not a good movie. Actually, scratch that: There were two movies - one that was just about the little moments in Milk's life and his relationships which was awesome, and another that followed the big events in Milk's life. The second movie ruined the first one for me.
Spoon - my go-to band when I just need some straight ahead poppish-rock. Also, Eagles of Death Metal, Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, and fuckin' Tapes 'n Tapes.

Monk is the best of a very specific and very made-up genre: the only-watch-when-in-marathon-and-you-are-home-from-work-sick-with-no-movies-to-watch-and-you-don't-feel-like-watching-porn-anymore show.
It does look interesting, but the ubiquitous advertising has me worried that it is going to suck…
