There is half-joking fan speculation that he named his daughter Honor. I'm still cracking up about it.

I think I'm more excited by the possibilities his character presents than the character he is now, but I like Mako a lot. He's intriguing. Sorry.

"Leaf" is my favorite episode so far. It flowed very nicely, made good use of the cast, both old (so to speak) and new, and introduced new parts of the world in a way that felt completely natural. I hope you're right, and we'll see more episodes that are as effectively paced and plotted.

Still, there is such a thing as too much filler. I enjoy season one of ATLA a great deal, but I can't help but think it would have been better without taking such a ridiculously long time to move the action to the Northern Water Tribe, and there were a couple of episodes that didn't serve much purpose story-wise or

I loved the long shots of Korra and Mako riding Naga through Republic City at night, and then the park in the early hours of the morning. That was some beautiful background work there.

It wasn't that they didn't want a Book Two, it's that they didn't know if they were going to get one. Nickelodeon initially only ordered a twelve-episode miniseries. I'm not sure at what point in the development process the network asked for more episodes, but we know for sure that the second season will have fourteen

You know, as appreciative as I am to get some of Mako and Bolin's backstory, I really hope we get some flashbacks at some point this season. If there's one thing Avatar consistently did really, really well, it was flashbacks. (Not to say it didn't do other things really, really well, too, of course.) So many of these

I'm willing to forgive things like that because it's only the third episode and the show is still finding its footing, but I agree that the dialogue is occasionally off. Mike and Bryan wrote every episode of the first season themselves; it'll be interesting to see if there are any noticeable writing quirks we can pick

Was anyone else shocked that they openly discussed gang violence, turf wars, and acknowledged the brothers' shady past on a Nickelodeon cartoon rated Y-7? Props to Mike and Bryan for willing to go there.

Oh, Mako is definitely going to be Korra's love interest. There is not a doubt in my mind about it. This is a short season, and to spend so much of it already hinting at a relationship wouldn't make sense unless something was going to come of it. I do see Mako as perhaps being reluctant at first, just based on how

The pacing threw me off the first time around, but bothered me much less on a second viewing. Not sure what that says, exactly. I'm not a fan of the shortened opening credits, though; I agree that they're flat.

Ahem. The correct term for Bokocest is "Ferretcest." Sorry, I'm just kind of ridiculously proud of coining it and kind of want it to be a thing. Well, not an actual thing - you know what I mean.

Oh, I knew Kataang was going to happen from the beginning. I just didn't particularly like how it was executed. I was fine with episodes like "The Cave of Two Lovers," which made their feelings very innocent and sweet (and mutual, for once), but I didn't appreciate some of the fumbles they made later on, like Aang

@The_Tuna:disqus We actually saw Mako in his normal clothes at the end of the episode, when he's sitting by the window gazing at Air Temple Island across the bay. That red scarf has reached memetic levels in fandom, so the friends I was watching with were very pleased to see it make an appearance.

I think he was a bit dickish in his introductory episode, but his problem is more that he's socially awkward than a jerk. He's Mr. Darcy if he were a firebending street kid in a fantasy Asia. Thus, he's actually really adorkable.

I actually just listened to the audio commentary on "The Chase," so I can confirm that Mike and Bryan made Azula's flames blue because of their heat, regardless of its scientific accuracy.

That's because Azula's a firebending prodigy. Her flames are naturally hotter than other firebenders', so they're blue.

Hopefully now all those television executives who were convinced an action-adventure series with a female protagonist would never be successful are eating their words. 4.5 million viewers? At least some of them had to be boys in the target demographic.

That's in the notoriously inaccurate Avatar Extras, but it keeps cropping up around the Internet. Mike and Bryan have said that Kataang was in the show's DNA since the beginning, and they always intended for them to end up together. I didn't like Katara and Aang together romantically, but I can readily believe that.

Although I will say that Avatar gets a slow start. Season one is good, and even excellent in certain places ("The Storm," "The Blue Spirit"), but it doesn't hit its stride until the finale, which is fantastic. Then the beginning of season two takes another dip, only to pick back up again with "The Blind Bandit," at
