Appa flies at the speed of plot.

And a little more foreshadowing would have been nice in any case. I do have some problems with the Lion Turtle, but I think I would have been a bit more accepting if we had heard it mentioned more than twice in throwaway comments.

"Oh, no! I knew it was only a matter of time! APPA ATE MOMO! Momo, I'm coming for ya, buddy!"
"Get out of the bison's mouth, Sokka."

Katara outright says in "The Southern Raiders" that Kya was lying about being a waterbender to protect her.

I think that was one of my main problems with the Kataang dynamic, the other being that she was far too maternal to someone she supposedly had romantic feelings for (and I didn't see much reciprocation of said feelings on her part). I would have much preferred an aged-up Aang and Katara doing some liplocking at the

Google isn't helping me out very much. It seems to be a persistent fan claim, which is where I picked it up, but I can't find the source. Is there anyone in the know here?

Neither of Katara's parents were benders, and I highly doubt Toph's parents were benders, either, actually.

To be honest, I've always been slightly uncomfortable that it did happen. I seem to recall that Kanna left the North Pole because she was unhappy with her tribe's sexist ways, and Katara outright says that she thinks Kanna didn't love Pakku (though he loved her, apparently). Kanna moved on with her life; she married

On a more serious level, though, I think Mike and Bryan have said it has something to do with a person's spirituality. The reason Katara is a bender and Sokka isn't is because her personality and nature were more suited to bending than his were. I remember reading somewhere that Sokka may have actually had some

Made even better by the fact that the line is actually "fresh and juicy," which has resulted in some hilarious fanart: http://sarahfu.tumblr.com/p…

@avclub-68c81a145181a6b3092221895a3fd1a9:disqus I definitely got the impression that there were some hard feelings between Lin and Tenzin, particularly on Lin's side. Bad break-up?

There is a "Previously on…" for episode two on Nickelodeon's website, but sadly, Aang is not the voiceover. Instead, it's designed like a newsreel, complete with grainy sepia footage, and the radio announcer from the pro-bending match gives us a rundown of Korra's story so far.

They're actually the Fire Ferrets, which is a cross between a red panda and a ferret, I think. Bolin has a little fire ferret buddy named Pabu.

I remember that one of the first pieces of fanart that went online during Comic-Con this summer was one of Mako and Bolin kissing. Granted, the news that they were brothers hadn't quite gotten to the Internet yet, but I think that says something about Avatar fandom.

It's available for free on iTunes if you're in the United States.

I think she was attracted to him on a superficial level right away; watch her face just after Mako's hat trick and tell me she's not a little twitterpated.

Although to be honest, very little of the shipwank on Tumblr thus far has been about a potential Mako/Korra/Bolin triangle. There are some Makorra shippers that seem to be a little too sensitive about Asami Sato (which puzzles me, both as a Makorra shipper and because we haven't even met Asami yet), and there are some

Oh, I love Ikki and Meelo as well, but as a shy-but-snarky bookworm myself, Jinora has a special place in my heart.

For the record:

Let it be noted that Kiernan Shipka does an excellent job as Jinora. She's easily my favorite of Tenzin's kids so far.
