Mike and Bryan have frequently compared her design to that of a snowboarder. I really like it, too; it's casually feminine and very practical, just like Korra herself. Also, I can personally attest that it is a much easier hairstyle to emulate than Katara's.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS if you're avoiding the clips KorraNation.com has been posting

I honestly don't see much of a love triangle between Korra, Mako, and Bolin. It seemed pretty obvious to me that they're going in the Mako/Korra direction and Bolin is going to be her (bar) buddy.

I was the one with the closed-book Mako comment. I'm really looking forward to both of the brothers' development. P.J. Byrne, Bolin's voice actor, gave an interview in which he mentioned that Bolin has a great arc that has him becoming a little more aware of the world and how people aren't always what they seem.

In "The Library," Aang points out "these weird lion-turtle things" to Sokka (I think?) in one of Wan Shi Tong's books/scrolls. There are also lion-turtles in the architecture of Piandao's house, I believe.

I don't know if I would describe the Lionturtle Ex Machina as satisfying. It felt like lazy writing to me, actually. I've read the Art of Avatar book, so I understand that Mike and Bryan planned out the Lionturtle's role in the story very early on, but a little more foreshadowing (and not a throwaway line a

I'm very excited about the level of maturity this show appears to be taking on, based on some of the recent trailers. One of the things I appreciated the most about Avatar was that it didn't talk down to kids or shy away from addressing dark and complex things (even the finale, which I thought could have been handled

I still can't believe they got away with the implied Sokka/Suki sex. Refuge in Audacity, perhaps?

Although they did have that moment after Mako took down three guys single-handedly and Korra was looking at him from the sidelines all starry-eyed, which means she's susceptible to the power of sweet moves as well.

Agreed! They were very sweet together, easily my favorite canon couple in ATLA.

Except they were originally planning to make Aang 10, Katara 12, and Sokka 13. I agree with your assessment, Murc, that things make more sense when the characters are older, but that is how everyone was aged in the original (unaired, used to pitch to Nickelodeon) pilot.

I believe probending is influenced by mixed martial arts, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if some of the bending styles had crossover with others.

I think you mean Ferretcest.

Well, except in Star Wars, but yes, I see your point. And I always knew it was going to happen, I just didn't think it was particularly well done. Ah well.

Sorry! It was such a minor thing I didn't think anyone would mind, but I'll try to be more considerate in the future. Didn't mean to upset anyone.

Maybe slight spoilers for Korra if you haven't seen the Comic Con trailer:

That goes double for 14-year-old girls, which is why I never really bought that Katara would be romantically interested in Aang at this point in her life.

@avclub-13abef55e3d5d2cb92d1eefff29c85ad:disqus I think they're pretty obviously setting up Korra and Mako to be the endgame pairing, though. Whatever problems I had with Aang and Katara, it was clear where things were going with them by episode 1, and considering this is an even shorter series, I doubt they'd make
