I guess I should add that the tension built by 2005 couldn't possibly be replicated again, easily. By now it's so easy to blow the whole trilogy off, and justly. I figure the audience wanted to convert the film's whimper into a bang.

Star Wars Episode III
Surreal day. I didn't attend the midnight showing, but I went that evening at 7:30, ironically the only screening that didn't seem to have folks camping out for. (Yes, people were still camping out for later showings) Fearing the worst of the worst of competition, I just walked past the campers…
Never looked back to The Modern Lovers after I heard Jonathan Richman
Yeah, yeah. I know how important The Modern Lovers is, and they're great and all, I had my share of listens on that record. But it doesn't prepare you for his far more substantial work under his own name. All the Jonathan Richman records I own are…
Didn' t they hand Alien 3 to Fincher as some sort of clusterfuck of incomplete scripts and already completed sets? His job was to sort it all out, I think. It was screwed from the start.
What was the sub-sub directory I had… like /ring/2249 or something. Oscar The Grouch adorned the top of my webpage. Being that was one of the twenty or so images available from Geocities' prestigious GIF library.
I tripped on an alt-rock, sprained my ankle.
Glad I arrived early, 'cause this was probably the hardest to find venue I can think of. Considering it's tucked away behind an overpass and a bunch of old buildings, and has no signs to identify itself. Just a funny mural with a guy in a sombrero with the world is hands.
Super Mario RPG trumps them all. It's true, and it's proven by science.
I didn't find anything wrong with Big Fish or Sweeney Todd. They were as strong as any film he's made, I think. Another vote for Ed Wood as his best film. Can't say I'm that interested in his recent adaptations, though.
I'd like to adopt that black child!
Funny thing happened in my viewing. Everyone I knew who was a fan of Gilliam uncoordinately made it to my local theater's 10:30 AM matinee show the other day. Lots of people attended it too. It's a wonderful chaotic mess of a movie. Feels almost metaphoric. Probably is… and it wont…
Heheh, by the way, I don't think there's been a numbered entry in the series that wasn't fun, and I think even the worst is better than most. Well, I can't comment on the online one, since I've never played it, but anyhoo.
MimsySnark, it's actually more typical than you think. A lot of people were introduced to the series from parts seven and eight, and were subsequently turned off by Nine's embracing of the whole style of the series' early years. I think most came off as alienated, so I think that was the real failure of the game. I…
It sucks to be an advocate for a 'sucky' game
…like Final Fantasy IX. Cue Conan's nerd impression. It's been a while, but I thought the game was unsurpassed presentation wise for a while after it's release. True, the story was regressive to the early years, but I don't think that makes it the runt of the series,…
Game Over Yeeeeeah.
Yes! Thanks for this link. I forget the exact words, but Clokey said that the philosophy behind that film was to make something that was pure eye candy. Animated funk.
I saw a great documentary on him called Gumby Dharma, and it said that he was going to create a new Gumby film. I wonder if that's still in the works. At any rate, RIP Mr. Clokey…. and long live Gumby, damnit.
Holy Shit
IT'S THE YEAR WE MAKE CONTACT
It was cussing awesome. Mmmhmm.
Haha, I was about to mention Velouria. I found it oddly compelling, though. Here's a clip of it sped up to real-time: http://www.youtube.com/watc…
Link's Awakening.
