Paddy Considine and Rafe Spall:
He got a little overexposed in the latest series, but Tony Harrison never fails to crack me up.
My favourite Big Train sketch is the one with Simon Pegg as a cook in the cake department, who can't stop making jokes about how well the hot cakes are selling. At risk of being fired, he's transferred to the broth department, which is overstaffed, and … you can guess the rest. Gets me every time.
You're right Mbs - oh when will a prison rape comedy get the respect and acclaim it deserves? Though I hear Let's Go To Prison had Will Arnett in, so it can't be all bad.
Speaking as one of those reviled many who came to the comic lately (read it last year), I agree with danrimage. The bits I most regret not seeing were the newsstand sections, as they create a lot of emotional resonance at the end. Aside from that, I thought the film did a good job of cramming the "most important"…
Les 400 Coups
Not to get all arty and pretentious, but that is a seriously lovely film. It's got that lightness of touch in common with early Godard, but there's real emotional weight as well - Godard often seems distanced from his characters, Truffaut treats them as real people (Antoine is supposedly…
My town's film festival last year had a Warner Bros. strand with big hits and hard-to-find stuff. They showed a film called Black Legion, with Humphrey Bogart as a guy who gets drawn into this KKK-like organisation - sort of a noir/social commentary mix. I kind of regret not seeing it - anyone who has, is it good?

Emily Withrow?
The one who described There Will Be Blood as "booor-ing"? I can't wait to read more of her pithy observations.
Seriously, you're ragging on him for misspelling the name of mid-90s one-hit wonder Haddaway? That was funny, Mbs, keep on keeping on.
The only thing I regret about the painfully earnest "romantic"-in-the-worst-possible-way poems I wrote to girls as a teenager is that I wrote them in the first place.
"Who wins? The audience, that's who."
Helo gets results, you stupid chief!
Meth production and retail, of course.
Squeeze sit on that faultline between power pop, pub rock and New Wave. Basically taking the classic song hooks of 60s pop, adding an additional layer of sophistication from 70s songwriting, and mixing it into something that was much smarter than it seemed, but just as catchy as it was first time round.
Early Elvis Costello more or less bridged the gap between pub rock and New Wave, and Nick Lowe was with him on those early albums. However, EC was categorised as New Wave for his seminal albums (This Year's Model, Armed Forces, Get Happy!!) while Lowe dipped more into power pop. They're both great musicians, but Lowe…
