Smashing Pumpkins were just fine up to, and including, 1998. After that, we're in agreeance.

It's a neutral thing for HateSong. Due respect to Marah, she usually isn't doing much in these features. If the interviewer were presenting differing viewpoints, or challenging the hater, or at least forcing them to really defend their position, it would make more of a difference. As it is, it feels like the AV Club

The AC/DC thing is more offensive to me, but he also snuck in a dig at Blind Melon, and they weren't that bad. Certainly not Ugly Kid Joe bad.

I think "Songs From The Capeman" is great. If anything, that's the true underdog of Simon's career, a really great record got lost in the shuffle of the Broadway debacle.

I think it's more, you're a dog that's lost its bite.

Hem?

Would you ask Tom Petty that?

It's a fine movie, great script and great cast, but Simon himself shouldn't be playing the lead. He's just not that great of an actor, and most of the time he walks around looking weary and disinterested. But the rest of the movie is really good.

Favorite not-so-well-known Paul Simon song: "Ace In The Hole."

I love the demo of "Gone At Last." All percussion and a capella vocals, it's like if someone did a mashup of "Gone At Last" and "Cecelia."

It took me years to really appreciate Rhythm Of The Saints, but now I love it. It isn't as accessible as Graceland, like you said, but it's a lot richer. Plus it features a cameo from Milton Nascimento, which is pretty damn cool.

Uh yeah, they still hold up. Don't worry.

To be fair, this movie kinda meets us halfway. . .

You remember very little about the film, or you remember very little in general?

And that's such a better song too, Axl Rose be damned.

It's actually an allegory about consumerism and quick-fix idols, set to funky Tim Rice/Andrew Lloyd Webber jams.

I watched most of this on a charter bus after a college orchestra gig. We got back to campus at the exact moment Edward Norton starts confessing his love for Jenna Elfman, and then the driver shut off the movie. That was frustrating.

I love Flirting With Disaster. I agree with on Stiller's general film choices, sometimes it's easy to forget how many solid movies he's been in.

This one is pretty surprising. Normally, when an actor tries his or her hand at directing for the first time, the result veers more towards "ambitious but flawed." In this case, you had an actor who likes to choose a lot of ambitious projects, basically making a pleasent early-2000's rom com. And it's not bad at all.

For what it's worth, she does.
