"Good Old Days" is so great and so twisted, I've never been able to listen to James Taylor songs the same way since.

I don't know, it might not be produced on a major label, but that's still the support of a major label. It's not 100% independent. I doubt they'd get where they are without the support of a major label's marketing department.

That was the most well-adjusted post on the AV Club.

I agree. I can sort of respect Anton for sticking to his guns and all, but there are a good number of success stories in music where the artist stuck to his guns and still made a lot of money and earned a lot of respect.

Except, the Dandys have never written anything as cool as "Randy Scouse Git." The Monkees have some game.

For years, I've called the Dandy Warhols a "Greatest Hits band." I've never bought one of their albums, but I've bought a few of their singles, and if they ever put out a Greatest Hits, I'd totally buy it.

That would still have been pretty awesome.

Eh, not quite. The Garfunkel album out at the time was "Breakaway." Might have been his biggest-selling album, I neither know nor care.

It's definitely a better album, but Graceland is more fun. And actually, I think Rhythm Of The Saints is a better example of the music and vocals not really blending. But they don't have to, cuz all the parts are so damn great.

You sure they didn't mean You're The One?

That quote always confused me. I don't know how much traction Garofalo's complaints of sexism and artistic frustration really hold - I'm sure it's true, but she also didn't seem to give the show a chance - but it was very strange having Paul Simon provide the counterpoint. Pretty random, and it didn't make him look

It's always the sit, it's just a shit, that's it!

That's almost exactly what I came here to post. Including the Wikipedia link. I wouldn't really call it a falling out.

Sea Change?

Is there blues inside said bottle?

St. Paul demands more Hamm's.

I love that album, but he's gone on record stating he's ashamed of a lot of it. Which is annoying, cuz it's one of his best albums.

And by proxy, random samples of obscure soul and Gary Wilson records' feelings.

Depressed Beck = fine, it gave us Sea Change after all. Paranoid Beck gave us "Chem Trails," which no matter how kickass a song it is, always makes me think of my conspiracy-minded friends and leaves a nasty, acidic aftertaste in my mouth. Like I've injested too much flouride, which was developed by a Nazi you know.

My roommate was going through the series for the first time last night, so I ended up rewatching the first Lindsey episode again. There were a number of moments where I bust out laughing, and my roommate had no idea why - so many moments that don't mean anything when you see it the first time, that foreshadow events
