The episodes, or the stocks?

Were any of those reviews actually that bad? Seemed like all the ones I read, including the ones Forbes links to, say the show was still extremely funny, but it's disappointing that they had to split up the characters and the pacing's sometimes off.

If you go back and watch the first three seasons, there's a shit-ton of crappy overdubbing. Seriously, it's so blatant. I didn't care then, and I don't care now.

Oh, okay.

Yeah, I was looking forward to that. In a perverse way, I've been looking forward to S5 ever since the AV Club reviews started.

They used the Stewart/McLeod resemblance to decent effect when he hosted SNL in the early 90's, with a "Love Boat: The Next Generation" skit. The skit itself wasn't very funny, but the setup was great. "Mr. Worf, set a course. . . for love!"

Or maybe a few bullet hole scars.

Four times, actually.

In all honesty, I think the philosophical edge works great for the Trek series, but it's almost never worked for the Trek movies. The best ones (Wrath Of Khan, Voyage Home, First Contact) are far more action-driven than philosophical. ST: The Motion Picture is ridiculously heady, and Generations was such a wasted

Okay, whose weight are we insulting now?

I could listen to "Ripple" several times over and not get annoyed. More than most of their work.

Dammit. Shone.

Or would have turned into, if Yoko hadn't shown up.

Say what you will, there have been moments since '66 where William Campbell has truly shown.

I get the strangest feeling he would have done a dramatic turn on The West Wing, and it would have been incredible.

Touche.

Well, no, cuz his murderer killed herself soon after killing him.

Hmm. Yeah, not cool.

Let's Fix Sad, Robots.

God damn this is sad. I knew he was getting up there, and was kinda surprised he was still around, but man. We've lost one of the last real connections to a golden age of movie making. This guy fricking apprenticed with Willis O'Brien. RIP.
