Your writeups are great.  Keep doing what your'e doing!

Thank you.  So, that's why Ginsburg's story had such an (understandable and profound) effect on Peggy?  I have to admit, watching it late last night, that I didn't make that connection and wasn't sure what to make of Peggy's reaction.

@Scrawler2:disqus I think you're right about Peggy's gender identification issues and how going to the movies and giving the handy made her feel more feminine.  If I'm remember this correctly we've seen this before, sometime in the last two-three seasons.  Draper dresses her down at work over something, she goes out

that was my favorite season.  the stories about the kids is like a punch in the gut.

O'Doyle rules.

@avclub-92d96da583b3bf0ca7d61ab3b3aba04b:disqus I'm an idiot.  I just now realized your avatar is the guy from Jaws right?  For some reason, I thought it was Steve McQueen's nemesis from Bullitt, who I now remember isn't even a mayor actually and is only played by the actor Robert Vaughn.  My last remark (about us

@avclub-92d96da583b3bf0ca7d61ab3b3aba04b:disqus You work your side of the street, and I'll work mine.

Agree with @avclub-05daa38da5d5e11450147b8443c155e4:disqus .  I don't think the point was to explain stuff and I do think you are thinking about this harder than was intended.  The spirit of the film is being irreverent and it kinda stops there.  Why do you wonder about such a thing in a movie filled with magic and

@avclub-1621e591147a686a1c882c2180d04144:disqus I actually got ALL of those trailers named in this thread at a Houston Alamo location last night.  Though I didn't particularly enjoy watching any of them.

It's violent kinda in the way Kill Bill is violent.  It's stylized and almost cartoonish.  They don't really focus on the gore, though there's blood here and there.  I think you should be fine.

I thought it was a good time.

I wanted to love it too and ended up merely liking it okay.  Still, there are tons and tons of movies that come out each year that aren't as good as JC, I think.  It's not a bad movie but it's definitely a squandered opportunity.

Yeah, definitely sad.  This was a band that my dad used to play in the car's cassette deck when I was a kid and our family would take road trips.  It was pretty catchy stuff and it rocked a bit more than some of the other stuff my parents listened to.  So I definitely grew up with a fondness for songs like "Down

It is no doubt the most exhilarating animated movie I've ever seen.  It had to have had better action than most of the stuff that came out that year for sure.

I've never had the sense of someone treating it as second-rate.  That's a great fucking piece of entertainment.

I've actually never seen this.  I've had the DVD sitting at home for a few yrs now but just haven't got around to it yet.  Which is a shame since I love The Iron Giant and most Pixar fare.  So I need to get on that.

I think the guy is super talented but I was also a bit underwhelmed.  It was good for what it is but generally disposable otherwise.

Not only that, Bieber was kinda awkward right?  I thought so.  The way he talks, etc.  I guess he's just a kid and I should cut him some slack.

America saved the guys because, let's face it, it was most likely mostly chicks voting.  There's nothing crazy interesting or even mysterious about that.

"I thought Blake made the right call tonight, though, and I was stunned when it happened, but in the best way."  Against all odds, Blake (take a look at him now) finally made the right call.  I totally thought he was going to keep that RaeLynn.
