Violet is an even worse daughter than Julie Taylor.  Poor Connie Britton.

Lange, Breckenridge, Britton (in the very little she was given to do) were the best things about this episode.

Yup.  Anyone who lives in Texas and is not down with cilantro should probably walk the fucking plank right down into the sea of mediocrity.  Seriously.

As a long-time Houstonian, I'm a little sad our city doesn't seem to get any exposure on this show.  It seems like it was cut out of the loop.  Houston is a great food city, esp for cheap and good eats.  Maybe there's not enough sex appeal here?

That is some bullshit right there.

Those couples were ridiculous.  I got a kick out of all the footage of the judge's reaction shots.  Well, actually just Tom really.  Gail Simmons fit right in with those whackos.

My roommate of the last two yrs just moved to Dallas (from here in Houston) and this kind of crowd is exactly what he was afraid of.  It doesn't help that his new job is in the uptown area.  If Dallas is portrayed this way, it's probably becuz it's less ethnically diverse than Houston and San Antonio and, well, not

I pillage the fuck out of end of the yr lists.  I just don't have the time during the yr to stay on top of stuff, particularly music, the way I'd like.  So these things are a huge resource for me and have been for years.  You guys do a really great job of it, btw.  Your last decade's TV list in particular was really

Out of Sight is my fav!

The Rite was indeed terrible.  Esp when Anthony Hopkins tries to talk all hip and young and stuff.

I'll co-sign this.  Austin's a really great city.  5 yrs of my life went toward some schooling at the University of Texas at Austin.  Memories made, no regrets.

Why don't you purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka?

Yikes.  I hope it doesn't turn into the sort of inept grief porn that The Killing was.

"And the staging of it, with Sophia coming out last, the only Zombie in
history to have a sense of dramatic timing, was just awful."

Ask and you shall receive.

Gotcha.  Going back and rereading the post, it seems like I missed the point.  Apologies.

The King's Speech is probably on par with Black Swan and Inception as far as hitting its mark and being successful at what it sets out to do.  But both of those latter two movies, along with The Social Network, will easily "outlive" it I think.

I haven't either but I would tend to agree with you.  I have never *got* the appeal there.

Brad Pitt's role in Se7en doesn't get alot of love so I'm going to take a minute here to give it some.  It's not an all-time great acting performance by any means, but he holds his own against (i) Morgan Freeman in the type of role he's known for, (ii) Kevin Spacey playing a crazy, and (iii) the dense visual/tonal

Nah, c'mon, Portman's performance in Black Swan was legit.  But what you're saying does happen, I'm sure.  See: Gwyneth Paltrow; Julia Roberts.
