Yeah, I think whether it is fake/genuine is a moot point.  It is an effective piece of entertainment either way.

Glad to hear that.  I have never read it and just picked up a used copy earlier this wk.

Your comment's making me backpeddle a little.  I have to admit - the scene that sold you is probably the funniest WTF moment I've seen in a while.  It's not quite on par with a tractor mower obliterating a guy's foot at an office function … but it's not bad.  True to the example set by one Doc Christian Troy,

There were alot of dogs involved.

The Exorcist is a decent read, though not all that different from the movie.

McDermott blows.  It would help if his character was redeeming in at least some small way.  But no …

As usual, urrite.

Reloaded was a good time.  Really strong action set pieces, eye candy, etc.  I'd still watch it and have in fact rewatched it a few times.  It's not the original but it's not a movie that anyone should feel ashamed about liking either.

I agree with this.  Like was the case with much of Ebert's career, Berardinelli's reviews and body of work has a rhyme and reason and a consistency that qualifies him as being a solid/decent critic.

I've never been able to *get* what makes her such a staggering icon in film criticism.  She is often, as you say, "wrong" (as far as a term like that can be applied to something that subjective) about the quality of the movies.

Good stuff.  I've not heard of those bands so maybe I'll check them out.  Thnx.

Yeah, that's a good point.  And I think that is probably how alot of ppl think about music: something to spin in the background vs something you put on to actually listen to attentively.  For my part, I don't really do too much of the former and am more about the later.  Still, your point's well taken.

Then you and I can be friends.  Hot chocolates after school at my place!

I did think the last album was boring.  I think it's got too much of a commercial sheen on it - like the wierd edges on Mercer's inflections have been filed away to appeal to a broader audience.  I listened to it twice and it's been gathering dust ever since.  It's not even on my iPod.  FWIW, I think the same thing

Still a strong listen no matter what your friendly/unfriendly neighborhood hipster says.

swashbuckling?

Michelle Rodriguez, coming right up.

I'm with you.  This and the pilot from S1.

The parenting is bad and the wife's behavior is hard to bear.

That was a really awkward transition in the scene.  Hungry Shane about to shoot the deer.  Instantly followed by a wonder-struck Shane urging the boy onto his magical petting-zoo moment.
