It's been a while since I've seen it but the meaning of the ending is not overt, right?  I remember having the same read as Ryan though.

Yeah, totally agree - she was excellent in The Tree of Life.  Whatever transcendent quality that role required of her, she absolutely nailed it.  I'm looking fwd to seeing how she fares in all these other projects.

I liked it for its story and for the reasons listed by the good Senator.  Not every Fincher movie can be Zodiac.

It is frankly one of the most ridiculous trailer/stories I've seen in a while.  It looked like the concept for a SNL spoof about an Oscar-baiting movie.

Really?

This is a seriously terrible cover.

Very persuasive.  Blue Ribbon for you!

I actually have the same issue with those same bands.  There are certainly songs here and there by them that I like and do find impressive.  But, by and large, when ppl start gushing about them, I start to wonder what it is that I'm missing.  In other words, I can't play an album by any of them front to back and then

As a Radiohead becuz of their out-there-ness?

I did mean to add this - I did like this article becuz it does goes a long way toward making that "American Radiohead" label work for me.  I think it is far better and more qualified than the lazy shorthand music journalists often do and have employed in discussing the band.  I'd imagine that Tweedy would at least

As to Wilco's catalog, I've only really listened to YHF (which I appreciate) and Summerteeth (which I actually like).  So, I'm admittedly not well-qualified to have a solid opinion on this.  Still, for the sake of discussion, I'll chime in at the expense of catching some hell for this  …. I get that YHF was supposed

Exemplary.

David Benioff  I'll echo the praise for City of Thieves as well as The 25th Hour.  I read a collection of his short stories as well and those were a bit more hit or miss.

Ppl always dog on Duvall for her role in this movie.  Yeah, she's shrill and mopey and dopey and all those things that are grating.  But isn't she sort of supposed to be that way?  Wasn't it effective?  What would the movie be like if she wasn't?  It would be something else, something not as good - I'd argue.  I'm

Exactly right.  The ending in the book is a far cry from the ending in the movie.

I didn't think the novel is bad.  But I'd take the movie behind the junior high and get it all sorts of pregnant.

That actually makes me want to watch this less.

Saw this tonight.  Liked it but didn't come close to loving it.  Ultimately, it's not a movie that is going to stay with me much.  Wish I saw DRIVE instead.

I think both of these comments are fair and accurate.  I'll say that I enjoyed both the book and film for The Andromeda Strain more than this.  Though this had some nice things going for it in terms of look, feel, texture, and how Soderbergh used visual cues throughout the movie to suggest transmission of not just

Would you ask Tom Petty that?
