It's a good song, certainly.

Like @avclub-ee5fa6ca72cf1279c0a422ce0f1b221a:disqus said, "Waiting for Superman" is a great track. Hard not to get won over by the hook, I find.
Absolutely.
A friend of a friend always sings "Wonderwall" at karaoke bars. It's actually the ONLY song he'll sing. He trots up there and sings it, all serious like. It's frankly very depressing. And pathetic too. Everything we know about him suggests that this is his play at appearing like a sensitive dude to whatever…
Yeah, totally agree. If you are going to give this band a chance and want to see what the fuss is all about, check out Soft Bulletin and go from there. It's a great album for a long car trip. They are not the greatest band in the world but those couple of albums show you something a little different at least.
To each their own?
When I was in high school, my 50something y.o. dad liked Blackstreet's "No Diggity" and my close-to-same-age mom liked that Folk Implosion song. At the time, both of these things made me feel like I was living in The Twilight Zone.
That's not so bad. A girl I dated in college, as well as all her friends, and her mom too btw, had no idea what Next's "Too Close" was about. So when they all loved it and got excited when it came on the radio in the car or whatever, it was just hilarious to me.
Song totally doesn't fit Dillon, TX the way, say, "Devil Town" does. So when it is written into that episode of FNL, it feels weird. Why is this old Flaming Lips song being played by these kids in West Texas or whatever who are, btw, probably too young to even recall it's radio release? Also, weird: the song's…
I had a mild case of this reaction myself. Revisiting PLANS a few yrs later, I came to grips with the fact that it is a bland and catchy song. Perfect for radio play.
Yeah, that's too bad. Cuz that sounds awesome.
Yeah, I don't think Jackman is terrible myself. But I find him somewhat bland and most of his movies to fall in the range of mediocre to just run-of-the-mill. His best stuff is, I think, probably The Fountain and The Prestige … but I consider the former to be a failure, in my book at least, and I thought he was…
He has a lengthy interview in this wk's Entertainment Weekly where he talks about most of his roles. It's not a bad read. Regarding your point about his serious roles where he's a handsome dude reciting lines, he acknowledges that he was a really bad fit in Meet Joe Black and some other movies around that time…
Shit was mantastic.
I went to a party recently where a group of 30something women were talking about Pitt. They said they didn't find him attractive. Never did! I felt like I was in a bizarro world. THEN they said that he wasn't a good actor and that he was too monotone. And THEN they said Hugh Jackman was much better. I felt like…
You jazzed in your pants, didn't you?
It's the universal dream.
Pretty much the worst commercial ever made. I can get with a toaster or I can get with a Kia. Really?
And "Strange Currencies." OK. I'll shut up now.
I'm not a superfan. But I always loved "Man on the Moon" and "Crush with Eyeliner."
