Best R.E.M. song?  Go!

Anyone remember this Star Wars-themed SNL skit from the 90s?

Disclaimer - I had a Star Crunch sometime in my 20s and it was not as good as I remembered.

Star Crunch ftw!

In a R version of the Star Wars movies, we probably would have seen Chewbaca, when pressed, really rage out and do some damage as would befit a Wookie.   That would never have happened with Jar Jar.

I'll co-sign this as well.

You've seen Pulp Fiction, right?

Yeah, I haven't seen that either. Furiously scribbles an addition to his list.

It doesn't stack up, imo, to the Dollars trilogy in terms of film craft and constructing iconic moments of great tension …. but I've always had a soft spot for The Magnificent Seven.  I own it on DVD (as I do alot of Leone's movies) and rewatch it every other year at least, when I'm out with the flu, hungover, etc.

Absolutely a good call.  That scene is great!

I wholeheartedly agree with the quote.  It's the one that offers the least replay value for me.  Still, they are all pretty good if not great.

TGTBTU is great, particularly the epic shootout at the end, but I think I actually prefer this the most out of the Dollars trilogy.  It packs the most punch for it's running time, I think.  And the Van Cleef character's revenge story is a nice addition.

Gross.

Way to throw a tantrum about pretty much nothing.

Thanks for the suggestions, folks.  I will certainly do my best.

I've only seen Elephant from the so-called Death Trilogy (as Wikipedia refers to it).  Are those the movies you are talking about?

We have to take your word for it?  LeVar Burton you are certainly not.

Stanley Rubric.

Complete with neurotic breaking the fourth wall antics ala Annie Hall?  Sounds like an excellent SNL skit.

Also enjoyed the article quite a bit.  I havn't seen Straw Dogs in a long time but the article does a good job bringing it all back for me while still bringing out the complexity and subtexts nicely.
