Yeah, the "updating" was something that concerned me - both with this and the Guy Ritchie movie.  But I've heard enough good buzz about the show at this point to persuade myself that I should at least check it out.  Plus, it being available on Netflix streaming is huge - no reason for me to not give it a look at this…

Bigger sucker punch: whatever Snyder tried to do in the movie in terms of story or theme (i.e., as Nathan points out) - or - him thinking folks were going to like it when in fact they overwhelming didn't?  It seems like the joke's on him but he's not laughing.

I don't think it's that he converses about his works or that he's not particularly eloquent that chafes ppl.  The problem lies in the self-righteousness as these other guys pointed out.  Talking down to your critics is not a good look.  Perhaps, if he was a certified genius he'd get a pass.  And that's not the same…
